The lottery doesn't exist for us, the players. The lottery exists to make money (as any business). But the lottery doesn't have to jump through hoops or anything of the sort to develop a relationship with its customers, it just has to offer the game.

I agree, I've written about this several times, how lottery directors are easily swayed by these claims of decreased costs. I've also written about how it's really B.S. There is cost, and there is profit. Who cares about cost, when profit suffers

Vendors will promote: ease of use, low maintenance, and cost savings (more money for salaries)

Not enough people will promote: I refuse to play to convince them otherwise.

If they went computerized, it could open the door for a legal challenge. The legal challenge would be proving that computer code is not random and is easily manipulated. If the court rules in favor of the challenge to the validity of RNG, precedent would be set, all RNG would be invalid. Because PowerBall is multi-state it would be federal and would be very healthy for the industry to bring some light on the operations and money trails of the lotteries.

MUSL's director has made positive statements about computerized drawings in the past. I think he would like to switch to computerized drawings, but I'm not sure if he will get his wish.

Changing Powerball to computerized drawings would be devastating, not just for the game, but for the industry. Powerball is a standard-bearer for lottery games, and if Powerball switched, many states would surely convert.
