The lottery doesn't exist for us, the players. The lottery exists to make money (as any business). But the lottery doesn't have to jump through hoops or anything of the sort to develop a relationship with its customers, it just has to offer the game.

Lets' face it, sales are astronomical when jackpots are over $100,000,000, as compared to the jackpot starting points, and there's a frenzy. It wouldn't' be surprising to find out that for those drawings the average player couldn't tell you if... [ More ]

I agree, I've written about this several times, how lottery directors are easily swayed by these claims of decreased costs. I've also written about how it's really B.S. There is cost, and there is profit. Who cares about cost, when profit suffers

Too bad one of the options was not

I Hope Not

as that would be my answer.

Not that any state legislator of Lottery Official gives a rat's a** what old Auntie Pat thinks, but Hollywood and Bill Gates have spent billions instructing us that. .

A. Computers do only what the operators tell then to do (with the exception of Hal in Space Odyssey)

B. Computers are OUR servants

C. Computes have 100% integrity--their programmers and data entry specialists (i.e. read Lottery Commiss... [ More ]

If they went computerized, it could open the door for a legal challenge. The legal challenge would be proving that computer code is not random and is easily manipulated. If the court rules in favor of the challenge to the validity of RNG, precedent would be set, all RNG would be invalid. Because PowerBall is multi-state it would be federal and would be very healthy for the industry to bring some light on the operations and money trails of the lotteries.

I can see it now, bringing in the p... [ More ]

MUSL's director has made positive statements about computerized drawings in the past. I think he would like to switch to computerized drawings, but I'm not sure if he will get his wish.

Changing Powerball to computerized drawings would be devastating, not just for the game, but for the industry. Powerball is a standard-bearer for lottery games, and if Powerball switched, many states would surely convert.

It would also create a situation where real drawings would not be available for any... [ More ]
