They could just stop the game all together and sell about the same number of tickets as with your scheme. If you want a game with odds of about 1 in 10 million and prizes that are small, there are already plenty of choices.

Your right, that could happen. I know there are those who will not play until it gets over 80 million and for some thats not enough. The thing is, that for most of us, a million dollars would be a god sent. Instead of making one very rich man, you could possibly make many confortable.

if 4 people had the same number they would end up with $250,000 before taxes unless they want the annuity to break it down even more. so the people seeking millions with one ticket would not like those new odds.

I've been thinking, what if the power ball was to pick a number for every million offered. So if there was a 15 million jackpot, they would draw 15 numbers. Instead of one there could be dozens, and if the pot continued to grow as many as a hundred or more winning a million.
