Lane's End results: Adriano won and Halo Najib placed. It was a very easy race for Halo Najib, and of the Derby prep races I've seen so far, I think he's rounding into top form perfectly.

Hawthorne's 7th Race looks so strong for # 3 Sole Of The City.... I'm having a hard time figuring out who has a remote chance to beat her. It's a must-bet regardless of odds.

For any Hawthorne punters, here's what I'm betting today.

6th Race... # 9 U Teachem Cart (6/1)

Rates second in class, tops the speed at the distance/surface; good jockey; trainer having a good season at track.

7th Race... # 3 Sole Of The City (7/2)

Ranks top in speed and class at the distance/surface; good jockey and trainer.

I'll probably be back in a bit for the San Luis Rey Handicap, a marathon (1 1/2 miles) Gr. 2 event on the turf for older horses running at Santa Ani... [ More ]

Turfway Park - 12th Race

We should see a couple Derby runners coming out of this race. It's a Gr. 2 race for 3 yo's at 1 1/8 miles on the dirt (in this case, all weather track) with a purse of $500K.

The top two contenders are # 8 Halo Najib (7/2) and # 6 Racecar Rhapsody (6/1).

Halo Najib is 2 for 2 on an all weather track. He has a pace advantage as an Early-Presser which is being favored in 9 furlong races at this track so far. He also gets Desmoreaux back in the saddle.
