In the Maddog MegaMillions challenge, had any one had the 12 WB 06-11-16-20-24-27-31-39-43-46-47-56 for the last three drawings they would have scored at least a 5+0 all three times but with 3168 possible combinations including the four MB, it's unlikely they would have done better than 3+0 in one of the real games. It hard to get a 4of5 even when you have all the inning numbers in a small pool unless you use a large wheel.

Just to clairify, you are saying that you would define a winning wave as getting 4 out of 5 numbers every other month.

Does that mean you have a system which does this -- or only that you would not consider it until it produced like that?

If the first, would you mind sharing with the group....

If the second, when would you start tracking? Say a system produced two back to back 4 out 5 wins -- yet failed to produce another

Just be sure to give us a definition of your idea of what a 'winning wave' is.

To some people, it's getting ONE WB number right: but to me, it's getting a 4x5 every other month.

I have no doubts people can and do have 'systems' that enable them to hit a 3x5 once in awhile, but that only pays $7 in Powerball, and these people usually spend $20-$40 to hit it.

Let's spread your system across 10 games and see how it does.

I have a theory, with odds of 1:176M, thousands of players will buy 10-20 tickets every drawing and never come close to winning a jackpot during their life time.

Facts are I could predict every drawing that no one would win the jackpot and be right 90% of the time but that doesn't mean I could predict all the winning numbers even once in a life time even if I had a 1000 chances every drawing.

Knowing that I'm likely to be one of those thousands of losers doesn't keep me from buying a few... [ More ]

state in which the winner comes from is rigged. I was just about to say the sme thing about good old Chaos 55. If I'm not mistaken the last I heard was that, to prove chaos 55 worked you would need to be ready to sacrifice about 10K a draw in order to trap them into pulling the numbers you were really playing.......

Megamillions is starting to look like a random draw now - at least to me anyway! It's about time. Now youv'e got five numbers out past 33 draws. This hasn't happened in a while. If you think like that then you should not play...this game is random and with 176 million combos of course you can find all sort of patterns (repeating last digits occur about 50% of time what's the big deal that another one showed up to make it three)..there are other things like three consecutive numbers in a row which statistically should occur 3% of the time..one number from previous draw has a 33% chance to repeat again and two of them has a 5% to repeat...so when people like you see some... Remember that the odds are 1 in 2116 starting at any certain drawing that the two after will be the same BB. Divide the odds by the number of total drawings, is the odds that it would happen sometime in that period. Once the first two have already occurred, the odds on the third one are (ideally) 1 in 46 as usual. I thought I heard the Mega Millions Company is deciding now to remove the lead core from the #26 ball and put it into the #.. opps, gotta go

I just returned from playing my MegaMillions numbers eight minutes ago, I doubt if the central computer will know what I played before the drawing. Ohio has my numbers and they will have to send them to where ever the MegaMillions central computer is. Good luck if you played too.

the bonus ball 26 coming out three times is just coincidence...the drawings are not fixed...they have created a game with 176 million combinations..what more do they need to fix ...and they actually do need say 5 or 10 minutes before draw to make sure that the terminals are shut down and no more tickets are being sold so that no one buys a ticket while the balls are being drawn...nothing to do with conspiracy or payouts or nothing..they once held a draw in Ny time square where you could see the

The drawing is not fixed.....however I can gurantee you to a high degree of certainty that the game is designed to payout on the combinations that will pay out the minimal amount so that they can make a profit. At one time part of the Ohio Lottery retailer's agreement was that a business must be open until 8 PM Monday through Saturday, but that changed when they added more retailers, Sunday drawings, and the 11 PM Mega Millions drawings. The machines stop selling tickets for the daily Midday drawings at 12:27 PM and at 7:27 PM for the evening drawings. If you're using play slips or playing a number multiple times close to the deadline, it's possible some of your tickets will be next day's drawing.

What's unfair about having an earlier shutoff time in one state than another? If you can't buy your tickets in the 3 or 4 days that they're on sale before the shutoff time you've got bigger problems than an extra 40 minutes will solve.

Each state runs its multi-state games under its rules. That's the reason California has pari-mutual payouts and Ohio has fixed payout for the same game. In Ohio MM winners have only 6 months to claim their prizes while some other MM states will wait a year.

I can tell you in PB there is a decent amount of history with White Balls hitting 3 times in a row, Red Balls I have not really looked at, but I know it has not happened in the last 3-4 years.

No reason to think it is IMPOSSIBLE to happen.

The places you're buying your ticket are making a decision to stop selling tickets an hour before the drawing because in Ohio at 24hrs service stations I have bought MegaMillions tickets at 10:45 PM, 15 minutes before the drawing and the clerks have told me I still had plenty of time but I've never taken the chance.

I mentioned that in another topic, it gives them plenty of time to find unused combinations seeing as every number played is reported instantly back to the HQ. The only problem is that unless there's only a few people involved, the secret would get out rather quickly if a lot of people working with the MM knew. The more that would know, the harder the secret would be to keep. But it wouldn't be all that hard to rig.

A better question might be why does it take an hour to drop 6 balls out of a machine? They have an hour draw break where you can't purchase any tickets and they draw the numbers. Powerball at least claims and shows the pretests they say they have. MM doesn't even claim to do pretests. But still, an hour? C'mon! Doesn't that scream fixed to anyone else but me

First, let me say I am not claiming the draws are fixed ..

But it is interesting to note: that by viewing the web video for the last several draws, it appears the announcer calls the number and then the ball with that number drops into the chute. Granted that may be just the camera angle, but it seems like the announcer is calling the number forth .. rather than just announcing the ball drawn?

I know, I wasn't literally asking what the odds were. But good to share I guess.

The videos for the drawings are on the MM site. You can see the balls being mixed up in the drum/bin/whatever but they're already in there so there's no showing the balls before they're dropped (if they even do that) and when they're coming out they cut to a close up to where you can't really see the balls all that well, except for the ones coming out.

I remember that for a while they will not show the drawings on tv...And why don't they record it with video cameras and show it on the internet so that people that miss the drawing on TV can see them on their website...So why don't they do this? There are 46 mega balls, so the chances that a drawing would have the same MB as the previous drawing is 1 in 46. The chances that the 3rd would also have the same MB is 1 in (46*46), or 1 in 2116.

I'm thinking about playing some of the same numbers I played this week and got as easy picks. Then again, maybe not, I'll have to look them over a little more, dunno if I should exclude numbers that have shown up in the last few draws or not seeing how they seem to come up on a near consistant basis.

Sure am glad that 26 happens to be a megaball I play every week. Unfortunately that is the only number I got right two of the last three weeks.
