I would give anonymously to those who needed assistance most - people hard hit by circumstances not under their control. I also have a few particular pet charities now that I would give more - food banks, children's grief organizations, thoroughbred rescues.

I would give some money to my best friends.

I would anonymously give money to the clerk. I would not want him/her going on these news saying how much of a jerk I was, because I only gave a certain amount.

I don't know if it's considered giving money but I would directly pay medical bills for certain people. tax deductible

With a substantial win, I'd give a tidy sum to my BF and a one-time gift of perhaps $10,000 to $13,000 to three of my long-time friends. Other than that, I'd help people primarily through recognized charities, where I could get a deduction for my donations. I'd prefer to let an organization that's already set up to do the screening determine who is really needy rather than to try to do that myself. I agree , they don't just wake up one day and say I think I will be a lazy wino but they can deal with the lousy hands in other ways than self-pity. There places to get help unless they don't want help.

Back to this thread, if I were to win a good amount, thats who I would be willing to help out, those that need help and seek help.

I'd probably give something to a homeless person or persons that has a legit reason that put them in the street.

I'm not talking about in a poor nation but more like in our own backyards.

Not talking about a lazy wino either, more like someone that was dealt a lousy hand in life.
