			<description><![CDATA[<p>When a clerk asks you if it&#x27;s a winning ticket or how much you won I consider that a red flag and won&#x27;t go there anymore. It&#x27;s not that I&#x27;m afraid of being ripped-off, just that it irks me to know they are checking to see if I can be.<br /><br />If an unsophisticated player answers I don&#x27;t know if it&#x27;s a winner the clerk is then free to scan his own losing ticket and pocket the customer&#x27;s to scan later. 			<description><![CDATA[<p>Does anyone know if the we have to enter the amount won is true?<br /><br />No. This is garbage.<br /><br />If you scratch off ALL of the foil on a ticket, you will find a string of numbers/letters (or sometimes a second bar code) away from the main play area. This code is what the machine scans and TELLS the clerk how much to pay.<br /><br />Scratch the ticket off COMPLETELY before you go in to cash it. Copying it is up to you.<br /><br />Get a receipt.</p>]]></description>

I don&#x27;t know if they are also required to enter the dollar value of the prize but that may be the case as a security measure since that can only be revealed by scratching off the latex. You just scratch off the 2 dimensional barcode and scan that. It&#x27;s a quick way to check your tickets without scratching the whole ticket but I wind up taking the ticket home to scratch for the fun of it even though I know it&#x27;s a loser from the self check scan. My experience is that the machine automatically prints out a ticket showing the amount won. If a clerk see that you are not paying attention, the clerk could drop the ticket on the floor, then pay you the smaller amount just to get you out of the store.</p>]]></description>

In some states, if the amount won is over the amount the stores are allowed to cash, you may get a message such as Contact Lottery Office .<br /><br />You should report this to your state lottery regional office or headquarters and tell them exactly what happened. It&#x27;s yours, you paid for it and it&#x27;s the only way to prove they paid you the wrong amount. With so many rip offs going on it might be best to ask for a receipt of your winnings, they have the capability of doing this also.
