Ouch, very painful I know!

Some argue it is close or not close, but I figure if I am going to lose, I would rather the number be on the opposite end of the spectrum from the losing number, instead of right next to it, sequentially. This comforts the blow somewhat.

So if my winning number is 05, I feel 'better' losing to 38 as opposed to 06 or 04.

Wow!

I live in Canada, and my boyfriend once got 5 out of 6 (6/49 Lotto) and missed the last number by one digit! What a bummer. So he got just a bit over a thousand, missing several millions by one digit

Yes, this is more like how I look at it.

also, sequentially, it was close... one number below on 2 and 3 numbers below on the 4th.

As for being close to the balls drawn, no, it probably wasnt.

Bottom line is, it sucks but thats why it is called gambling...

Actually he got closer to winning something then if he hadn't brought a ticket which isn't saying much when you consider that only 5,516,721 or 3.06% of the possible combinations could have won anything.

They don't actually draw numbers, they draw balls, so you're either right or wrong. Using numbers as labels to identify the balls simply creates an illusion that drawing a particular ball was close to drawing a completely different ball. You only got 2+0 right, and that's about 36,000 times more likely than getting 4+1. That's not even close to being close to close.

CORRECTION:

This would have been a $40,000 prize had the 5 numbers hit. Or even 400 if four of them had hit -- I had the Power play option on it.

I NEVER play power play, except for right now when the potential is up to 10x.

Ugh.
