Yeah, that would definitely hurt a lot more. Right now I drop a $20 and buy four $5 tickets, sometimes they are all duds, but oh well, only 20 bucks, I'll buy some more the next day and will definitely have some winners.

But If they were $20 or $25 tickets, and I got 4 duds...wow, just blew $80-$100 in one shot! Ouch!

I prefer to stick with $5 tickets thank you.

Texas has $25 and $50 dollar scratchers, and the odds are not that great, only the jackpot odds are reasonable.

Florida had a $30 scratcher for a while but it was not a success and was pulled.

That kind of money is just painful to play especially if you lose several tickets in a row.

Here in CA, $5 is the top scratcher ticket, with typical $100,000-$1,000,000 top prizes available. These seem to be the best odds in practice, as well as by the published odds. I also avoid the cheapies $1, $2, $3 and only buy if I have spare change from ticket redemptions that are not multiples of $5.

Interesting to look at how other states run their scratchers. not sure which is better. Compared to the big 3 lotto states, NY, MA and FL, it seems our CA lotto has a lot fewer scratcher games

The odds on cheap scratchers get worse and worse. Whenever I win say $50 on a $20 scratcher I use that extra $10 to buy a bunch of cheap scratchers and it just seems like a waste of money. Each time the lotto has released a scratcher in a higher amount the odds of winning on the cheaper tickets get more astronomical. I remember when you used to make a nice $10-$20 profit with ease from the $5 scratchers. I used to be in a winning edge with lotto. Now your lucky to get 1 winner out of 8 and win t... [ More ]
