Thanks for sharing your rolls wins. Just an FYI the code NEW means nothing unless it is a win greater than $500. Ive seen a Top Prize tickets before for $250,000, and the code was NEW.

Same goes for CVW, FTW etc etc....Ive had a few $1,000 wins and one was FTW and the other was VTE....Anytime you see a code that is typically a losing code, don't write it off just yet. Could always be a big winner.

All the prizes listed above are accurate, but I added them wrong: The return was $595, not $565. Still not good, but $30 better than I thought....either way, not a good book.

Interestingly, though, this roll was true to the overall odds. 17 winners out of 50 is just slightly better than one in three.

How did you make out on the roll you bought ? I don't know what's happening to Gold Rush. In the first week of April I won $500 five times - tickets from 5 or 6 different places and I went after tickets #000 - 010 each time (eleven tickets a pop) Got the $500 hits on #000 - #002 # 002 again #006 #010. Since then I played some 40 tickets to date and best win was $100. Hey all.... I buy only 1/3 a roll at a time....$20 face value costs me on average $160, but I only buy the lower value # cards. Typically card #001, 002, 003, thru #10. The biggest winners seem to appear somewhere in the top first 10 on a roll----i never buy the 000---sometimes starting a new roll. ...and I hate retaliers that start there new rolls high to low.... Can't tell ya how many times I popped for a 1000-bucks doing that, but it works for me!

It's hard to say. There has been multiple Top Prizes purchased from D.O. s in the past. The most recent a $1 Million Top Prize on $20.00 Billion Dollar Blockbuster scratcher claimed on 1/24/2011 at the Orlando D.O..

Also one of the Top Prizes on the Raffle was purchased at the Tampa DO I believe. So it boils down to Luck of the draw.

Im just not one to hit $500 or more 1st ticket out. usually when i get to the machines they have been dried of all the winners and only a string of losers are left, usually followed by a measly face value winner. Although today I did get $100 1st ticket out twice and also yesterday, but $100 is very common no big deal im looking for life changes prizes here, or at least $1K ...

Remember that dr65 is particularly lucky. Some of the other PA players here haven't done so great lately either. I still mantain things have been overall worse here. Or the winners are much more concentrated than they used to be. The stores I go to are generally medium turnover with lots of games offered.

Are you playing in a high or low volume store ? In general I would stay away from the low volume places as they are money pits at best.

The worst are the places with a selection of only 5 scratch offs total. The same rolls sit there for months it seems.

What I really dont play at but should be are gas stations. They seem to be havens for jackpot winners. They have lower volume then major grocery chains but carry a better selection of scratchers thus increasing odds of having more jackpots... [ More ]

Agree. One good thing about the PA Lottery though is that I read on Wikipedia that PA Lottery winnings are only taxable on the federal level. Other than that, I prefer the FLA system.

Honestly I prefer it over the states that guarantee a certain amount of money back on each and every roll. Its almost saying you will lose $165 bucks on every roll, but if you happen to hit $500 then your maximum profit would be $335 as you dont have a chance to get any more higher odds winners.

Just a few days ago there was a $500 and $1,000 winner on the same $600 roll in the store I play at almost daily. It is more interesting this way, especially if you end up with a hot roll.

I have come to the realization that there is no rhyme or reason behind Florida scratch off rolls. The odds make no sense whatsoever sometimes. Some examples:

I have had a $5 roll with projected 14 winners ( based upon odds ) produce 18 winners.

On the other hand ive had $10 roll with projected 18 winners produce only 13.

There can be multiple $100 winners on the same roll whatever amount the game is. I have had this happen twice on $5 rolls. Once I got $100 and $200 even.

The way I look at it by buying a $10 game roll you get 60 shots at the million and your odds go from 1 in 1.5 million to 1 in 25,000 as a roll.

I completely agree, anything over $500 for a roll is too much. Going for that $500 winner plus maybe another $250 in small winnings is the way to go.

$1,000 rolls in NY generally give around 500-600 back, and the odds aren't much better than $10 ($500) rolls so its usually a bad idea.

A roll means an entire roll of tickets. Scratch offs come in rolls of 30 tickets, 60 tickets, 150 tickets, etc.

I'm leaning towards making my birthday roll 20x the Money unless the new Lucky Cherry Slots turns out to be good. Any thoughts

i have bought about 30 rolls in new york and last week i bought a roll in georgia.Ill talk about my latest 3 rolls i purchased in georgia.First i want to let people know the difference in the 20 dollar rolls in new york a roll has number 1 to 50 and it goes for a grand and in georgia it goes from 00 to 014 so that roll cost 300 bucks.I bought 2 rolls of 3 million dollars taxes paid and i spend 600 on both roll and made back 300 bucks.I bought a roll of maximum green and i got back 180 so i lost

I wish they would cap the rolls at $300 in Florida. $600 - $1,000 is too much for a roll. You really need to hit $500 otherwise you are out $$

They have a tendency to put out dead rolls of $20 games then once in a while a hot roll will have 3 $500 winners on it.

Your return will be different then anyone else's...depending on what state and what game,of course. I don't think you could make a fair assumption of what your average return would be...that's almost impossible,isn't it

By prize tiers, do you mean more levels of prizes like 100,000 (top), 5,000, 1,000, 500, 100, 50, 30, 20, etc?

Tennessee is more confusing because their website only shows the very top 3, but I guess if you scratch a ticket it will show you (almost) all the prizes.

If this is the case then I would think the $20 tickets have the most prizes but again, its confusing because the TN Lottery doesnt exactly go out of its way to reveal all odds and prizes...

I bought a 5.00 roll of Bucs tickets acouple weeks ago. I missed ticket 000 so 295.00 and got back 155.00. I can post the exact ticket numbers that won if you really want to see it, but it was every 4 or 5 tickets won 10 here , 5 there, and a couple 20.00's.

The rolls that do better are the ones that have more prize tiers.

For example Gold Rush has only 8 tiers while FMC has 15. I have failed on both but GR you REALLY need that $500 winner.

I enjoy the $3 dollar rolls like Flamingo Bingo where there are 24 tiers = higher chance to hit a larger prize or 2.
