I stepped on many plums in my life. Maybe because we had 4 - 5 plum trees in our back yard. But, I will tell you one thing. I have seen thousands of pigons in my lifetime, but I have never seen a baby pigon. I think they come from an egg within seconds they become adult pigons. Could be wrong, but who knows.................

When I check my tickets, which is always by the internet, if I don't win and the pot rolls over, then I get hopeful about winning the jackpot. But the closer I get to actually buying the tickets, the more doubtful I become. If I don't win, and the jackpot doesn't roll over, then I do get a little depressed, untill the next morning.

Visualization works in sports (ask any golfer, basketballer, etc), business (goals, look of business, etc) and sex (just ask any guy or even girl). But I have have visualized myself winning the big jackpot for over 20 years now and I have not won so much as $35. So I would say visualization does not work for winning the lottery despite the fact that 1 woman in California won that states lotto and says she employs power of positive thinking or the few people who say they expected to win. I agree with you dallascowboyfan, I expect to win. Whether it a lottery ticket or slots at the casino prior to all my gaming activity I usually do visualization sessions with my eyes closed. They are very detail . With the lottery Tickets I visualize the purchase of the ticket all the way to what I expect to be on it down to filling out the W2G forms and the congrat. the person give me when they're handing me paper work and the check. Same thing for the casinos.

I have to say, unfortunately, that I have had some let-downs when I discover I am not the winner. I was just so sure.... but that's been only a few times. Still, I can't believe how upset I was over them! It was embarrassing!

But to me, I look at buying lottery tickets as entertainment: 1 - you have to play to win 2 - it's cheaper than a movie ticket 3 - gives me delight as I go to sleep, debating over whether or buy a house on a lake or a house on a beach.

I have kept track of every ticket I have bought since 2004. The last ticket I had that was a winner was 340 tickets ago, and that was $3 on powerball from picking the red ball.

I started playing in '04 b/c my dad got the 5 white balls on powerball. I thought some of his luck might rub off on me, but I guess not.

Yes, you bet I think I'm gonna win each and every time I buy my tickets! I don't get depressed at all when I don't win, I mean I could but how can I when I spend more than that when at the crap table 1 or 2 times a month? Besides I only play when the cash value is 100 million and up! I spend $20 at the first 100 million and around 180 million I'll spend $40 and at 250 million to 300 million I'll spend $60. Every time I play, I hope(not expect) to at least win a small prize because I've studied past drawings and play 10-20 lines with the most active numbers or all the numbers in the game matrix. If I don't win anything I'm disappointed but not so much that I won't try again. Having played lotteries for years, I'm a realist and know nothing I've done will change my odds of winning a jackpot to more than just a dream.

I've stepped on millions of them. I walk a lot and several homes have plum trees next to the sidewalk where they let the plums drop every summer. Too many to walk around.

But now I'm confused. Does this mean I should have won the lottery millions of times? Or does this mean I've already used up my mojo by stepping on plums and I can forget ever winning the lottery

Playing the lottery is another form of entertainment, in lieu of other activities that could have fatal results.

I don't expect to win the jackpot every time. A few lower level prize wins will finance future plays.

Of course, $250,000 will help pay off a lot of student loans the grandkids are dealing with.

all i know is i will never win if i dont buy a ticket. my odds are ever so slightly better if i buy a ticket.

and on the few occaisions i have won anything, lotto or keno, the only thing different i\s the fact i have won.

oh on the keno, i was supposed t be playing a spot 7 to win all my money back then some., but was feeling like illo never hit a spot 7 so played my regular 6 numbers, and the very last number was the 6th. a sweet $1300. keno still owes me around $600 so its spot 5's... [ More ]

Expecting to win the lottery is kinda like expecting to step on a plum. Think about it, it just don't happen that often. And it ain't likely to happen. That's not to say that anybody would be hoping to step on a plum anyway. And admit it, how many times in your life have you ever stepped on a plum? If you're honest, you'll admit you've never stepped on a plum. And if you saw the plum you'd probably walk around it.

In retrospect, I don't think this is a very good analogy.

The only successful approach to any form of gambling, even a mere one dollar on lotto, is once you have converted currency into a lottery tickey, a sports or racing ticket, or casino chips is to consider it gone. Then anything that comes back is pure gravy.

I don't know about you, but every time I play I have the feeling this time it's gonna work and when I don't win a jackpot I feel depressed for about five minutes, ten if I spent too much and I'm back to working the numbers for the next draw knowing I will win soon when the time is right or something.
