It is popular in vBulletin. Whatever is between the tags could only be seen upon reply to the topic thread.

Some baords use a thank you button. In that case the hidden content could not be accessed unless the thank you button is clicked.

A user should however not be able to hide ALL the content of that initial post.

You could also consider making it available to Platinum grade members only, or Gold and above.
