I used a GWBasic program I wrote years ago using the formular nCr=n!/[(n-r)!*r!] when Ohio had a 649 plus game.

To calculate the lottery odds of hitting 3 of 6 in a 6/37 game.

The 6-number winning combination can be broken in =COMBIN(6,3) = 20 groups of 3 numbers each.

Each 3-number group can be combined with 3 numbers from the rest of the field:

37 6 = 31.

=COMBIN(31,3) = 4,495.

There is a total of 31 x 4,495 = 89,900 lottery combinations.

Is the +1 number taken from the remaining numbers of 37 or another pool of numbers
