I think that taxes are the price one pays to live in a civilized country.

I remember this country being a hell of a lot more civilized than it is now when we paid a hell of a lot less taxes.

Remember though, that you can pay as much tax as you'd like without demanding that everybody does it because you enjoy it and think it's a good idea.

This is absolutely correct, although as usual, the lotteries are trying to misrepresent what they are doing.

I play according to the expectation value, which is the ratio of the return divided by the odds times the cost of a ticket.

Obviously the expectation value will fall when tickets go to $2. In order for the expectation value to be the same, the odds of winning would have to fall by half, and this is most definitely not what is happening.

I get them monthly on multi-pick tickets.

I buy extra with any small winnings.

When the new matrix comes into effect in january I will powerplay my ticket since I only buy one ticket for powerball and one ticket for mega millions. So it will be $10 twice a week for mega millions and $15 twice a week for powerball. But I will not be going to the casino any more so this is my only big time expense out of my fun budget.-weshar75

For MM or PB I usually only buy $5 or 5 lines worth under the following conditions: Jackpot is 80mil+ or I have excess funds from my monthly allowance from my pick 3 pick 4 plays. (Meaning when I win some)

Under the new PB prices, that would mean 2 lines I guess, unless I win a lot in the lesser games.

I normally spend $5 per draw on MM PB. When PB goes to the new matrix I'll spend $5 on MM and $2 on PB per draw. I'll take the extra $3 per draw (or $6/per week) and save it for the larger jackpots to buy more tickets. Or I may just put that extra $3 on Hot Lotto if the jackpot is unusually high. I don't bother with scratchers or pick 3/4, the payouts just don't motivate me.

Right now the chances of hitting the PB jackpot by buying $20 worth of tickets is 1 in 9,750,000. It's true there will be 20 million less combos when the matrix is changed, but the ticket price becomes $2 so the chances of the same $20 worth of tickets hitting a jackpot becomes 1 in 17,500,000.

I like your enthusiasm but after the change your odds will be drastically worse.

I buy around 30 pb and lotto each week. I'm not happy pb prices are going up but I do like the fact that the odds will be better.
