None of the state websites give the actual volume of play, but since the odds are 7.1 to 1 against matching 2 numbers, we can estimate it by the number of free ticket matches. In Ky it was 6676 so a ball park estimate is 47,400 tickets sold which is only 0.44% of all the possible 10,737,573 combos.

It's highly unlikely any jackpot will be hit when less than 1% of the combos are sold.

They make more money that way, lol. And even more so cuz it doesn't roll.

But being $2 a ticket, there's probably not enough people playing to cover enough combinations to produce a winner.

There are enough playing to keep the operators rich though.

And that's apparently Job One.
