Ya know Todd, you maybe right.... It does take alot of effort to change 200,000 to 1,000,000. After all..... Monday was a holiday, having all day Tuesday and Wednesday probably was not enough time either. Lets hope the new year brings a big win for many of us soon

Woke up this morning to check the powerball numbers(didnt get any right), saw they moved the jackpot up 20 million from 80 to 100 million(nice whole number) but did notice there were only 500,911 winners(wonder if the 911 means something) and only 1 person from N.M matched all 5 numbers(powerball site says for $200,000.) I thought that 5 numbers was supposed to get you a million now ??(scratching head)....Perhaps I misread the new change coming

powerball should have upped the pot when florida was added to the collective given that they have a population of over 18 millon but they didnt .... i think this was a bit disingenuous... lottery officials dont give dayummm though cause its all about making more and more money just like those jackaaasses in wallstreet/banking that sucked the tax dollars a few years back to the tune of billions.

Well TRP, I havent played the FL Lotto in a month, will play Fantasy 5 and Powerball(sparingly) I have noticed the jackpots for the FL Lotto increasing only a million at a time. The Powerball has hurt those increases severely since being introduced a few yrs ago

TRP, I wrote to our wonderful folks at Lotto HQ in Tally about that nice lil price increase. Suggested we should get the megamillions instead, They sent me back the standard thanks for your concern reply and tried to show all the wonderful new prizes it would bring.... Yeup, kinda like hope n change ... We can control the price, reduce the astronomical numbers, give you more winning options and charge you twice as much for a for down the road.....NOW....Don't you feel better

I wouldn't be surprised if they are telling the truth. NY has a $1M jackpot game called Sweet Million that, if the rumor mill is correct, barely anyone plays. (I can say that there haven't been many jackpot winners.) NY Lottery usually has a buy $5 get $3 in Quick Picks free promotion running with this game in an attempt to stimulate sales.

I really don't like this new idea at all.

I can see why the games failed if you're trying to give multiple single million dollar prizes and you only market the game in Timbuktu somewhere.

Makes you wonder if they really didn't want it to succeed.

I'd bet if they tried it on a national scale it would work.

If I'm not mistaken, Canada has a game that rolls down secondary prizes of a million dollars after the game hits a trigger point.... [ More ]

tks for that longarm., interesting games and an intersting read. so i did some numbers on 2by2 and the odds are quite low 1 in 100k ish for 22k cash. a bit more generous than say the daily millions game at around 9 mill to 1 odds for a 1 mill payout.

i can see why no one piles on these games. as the pot isnt that big. can a 10 mill to 1 odds game be considered tried giving away $1 mill prizes?wouldnt a 2 mill to 1 odds game called ohh i dunno the big easy ans ran daily, me more like trying to... [ More ]

On MUSL's web site is a list of historical games http://www.musl.com/musl_games.html Other than Powerball, it seems MUSL games have limited availability.

The only long-retired one that I can verify was a million-dollar game is Daily Millions, which has an entry on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daily_Millions It's a different game, with three fields and six numbers. The grand prize was 1 million cash.

They also retired Ca$hola last year. The final jackpot was 4.6 million. http... [ More ]

Just that I personally never saw them.

I can't recall any national game with multiple Million Dollar prizes coming out and then disappearing.

Also the $2 per board just started today so the extra money will not start going the the jackpot until after the Wedsday's drawing. That amount will depend on the number of tickets sold which I suspect will be lower than normal with the new price. I know my usually $20 in ticket sales won't be included, I may buy 20 lines of Ohio Classic Lotto instead. It's jackpot is only $2.6M but with odds of winning it of 1:14M, I get 20 chances to win it for $20.

As I understand it, the $20,000,000 increase applies only to the starting jackpot. Since nobody won, it doesn't apply now. The minimum jackpot increase doubled to $10,000,000, and the current jackpot increase is in excess of that amount. As I understood the change, the increase is consistent with the new rules.

Evidently what the MUSL meant was that the $20M will be added after the current jackpot is hit and the new starting jackpot will be $40M instead of $20M.

Or in other words, they are going to have the $2 per ticket come in before they add the $20M.

I think this is absolutely the STUPIDIST thing that could be done to this lottery, except for reducing the Pball nubers by 4.
