At the drawing board I discovered while the trend give me good directions for picking the next numbers the fields are too wide. Haven't had much luck with MegaMillions but I'm finding some interesting results with the state 6/49 game Classic Lotto, perhaps it's because I have more history with its present matrix. I may test it on the state pick5 game Rolling Cash5 which has even more history.

Using the trends of 02 19 20 24 33 +39 of past drawings when they were in these positions I will be picking 10 lines for Tuesday MM drawing within these limits:

2-28

3-18

21-46

25-45

34-56

MB 2-44 excluding 39

These are the limits I will use in my RNG even though the forth position is lower than the third position.

Tonight's winning numbers were 02 19 20 24 33 +39

1-10 = 02

9-34 = 19

13-37 = 20

23-41 = 24

20-52 = 33

MB 7-39 =+39

I picked 10 lines within those limits and posted them on the prediction board and didn't win anything. I will try again Tuesday using the trends from tonight's numbers.

Using the trends of 11 35 38 41 52 +40 of past drawings when they were in these positions I will be picking 10 lines for Friday MM drawing within these limits:

1-10 9-34 13-37 23-41 20-52 and megaball 7-39.

Using the limits plus avoiding combinations that have matched 5 in past drawings should reduce the number of combinations I consider for playing without eliminating the winning combination.

I'm looking at your graph a little closer to see if particular numbers in each position have trends that predict whether the number in the next drawing is more likely to be more or less and by what amount. This could limit the range of numbers I play for each position.

It's made from the last 30MM drawings. The horizontal line 0-8 lists numbers that have been hit 0 times, 1 time, 2x, up to ...... 8x, in the last 30 draws. Believe each number in a column has just as much chance of being picked as any other number in that column, but that may be wrong. Still working on that idea. Hope this helps.

Here's a graph, (for Friday's MM prediction) with 03/02/2012 (16-29-48-52-54) plotted on it. A line drawn through the results in numerical order produces a form somewhat similar to the form of the original graph. A good sign, hopefully.

Hey good idea! I'm headed out for some fortune cookies! Plus, I'm pulling out all the stops going to put 56 pennies with the numbers tapped to them in a hat and select 6 of them. Who knows? it's looking like a divergence in numbers coming up based on some Bidirectional Mean Averaging of the numbers.

possibly 2 low and 3 high; at least from the BMA trends.

Tuesday's drawing looks a lot like the one a month ago on Tuesday 02/28/12, I wonder if this Friday's drawing will look like the one that followed it.

In spite of eliminating the lower six numbers from my pool and rejecting all combinations with the highest number less than 20, I couldn't manage to match more than 2 on the 25 lines I played and the 25 mega balls I played didn't have #24 either so I contributed $25 to last night's pot.

This Friday I may play all 46 mega balls and limit my contribution to $44.

This is also an excellent visual example of why sequential numbers are less likely to occur, not that they won't, just less likely.

There are other mathematical reasons why, but that's beyond the scope of this thread.

Look at the graph of the previous 40 draws. It includes the recent 2 that are tightly compact. We'd expect the numbers to fly apart. Staying tightly packed is like storing up energy, it's got to be released at some point.

Also that graph shows that 90% of the time when the low numbers was 6 or lower the low number in the next drawing was higher and when the high number was sixteen or lower the high number in the next drawing was higher so I look for tonight's low number to be higher than 6 an... [ More ]

My vote is yes because the numbers were too low. I know nobody matched all 5 numbers plus the Mega Ball on that draw because the Mega Ball Number was higher than the highest white ball.

a lot of simply believers think the draws are random.however if they were then you would possibly get 5-100 winners on drawings which never happens.lotteries have to be controlled so certain high population areas win more,so they sell more tickets.you can make things in their simplest forms,but some try to simplify that,and it isn't possible.

I voted no, however, had the number pull been a simple sequential list, I would have probably voted yes. There is no real reason why one set of 5 numbers (nonsequential all under 30) and another set (sequential under 30) should elicit a different response, which makes me think that I am answering based upon feelings rather than logic.

I attribute it to people playing birthdays. A lot of people play birthdays, which means a lot of people play low numbers. I was for sure someone was going to win it when I seen all those low numbers. Had I played my family's birthdays, I would have gotten 4+0. It must have killed all those people to just miss out on the mega number, that's my worst nightmare. The money isn't bad(you're 250k richer!), but just missing out on 241 million? Ouch.

Perhaps it was a request for clarification.

Personally, I don't understand the original question. Or, to be more precise, I don't understand the premise of the original question. Yes, all of the numbers were on the lower end of the spectrum, and yes, that's statistically improbable. But I wouldn't attribute anything to it beyond the luck of the draw.
