The only system that can predict future numbers with any degree of accuracy is the one based on stats (and there can be multitudes of those). Anything else is an abstract manipulation, using your terminology - just hot air. Many people get excited about new formulas that look kind of scientific - until they run tests or backtracks and the balloon quickly gets deflated. I never pay attention to such formulas. Drawing the numbers from my hat may turn as effective.
