no massive jackpots, here, and no complicated tax problems. did I mention the tick box to remain anonymous on the back of the ticket. there is a 6 week claim time while they do what ever security checks they need to to see if you are actually the owner of the ticket. or that there is no other claimant out there.

so after you submit the ticket should be 6 weeks, wait, then either a cheque or bank wire.

so for us its ASAP. and during that 6 weeks seek out financial planning advice, etc.... [ More ]

Not really intriguing as much as it is liberating.

I just don't like clingy hangers-on, parasites, big productions, endless small-talk and long goodbyes.

When I am blessed with the oppportunity to win it all, it will take about 3-4 months for me to claim the ticket. It takes about 2 - 3 months to find and train a replacement for work. Another month to pack up the household and make plans to leave the day the ticket is claimed.

Reality, it took the NC Prison Guard about 4 months to get her affairs and family protection in order before claiming her ticket.

I agree people tend not to see a fast moving target very easy. The faster the better. I will claim it right away if I win a jackpot and disappear from the press.

There are times that I'm so confident that my numbers are going to come up, that I show up at the lottery office the day before the drawing to cash

in my winnings. Sometimes they give me a hard time, insisting that the numbers haven't been drawn yet!

What's up with that. Don't they believe anyone now days.

A few years ago a woman won a jackpot sometime in the summer.

She kep the ticket until Chritmas, wrapped it up, gave it to her husband and said, This is the best I could do this year.

Depends on the person, some go right away and some are in no hurry at all.

If its a really big jackpot win, some want to get things in order with a lawyer ect.. before turning in the ticket.

The people that win a large amount of money, like $ 1000 or more, how long do they wait before going to get their winnings?

Are people anxious to get their money, or do they hold off on it?

i have read about people doing that in the newspaper and on television..
