I just heard from him a little over 2 weeks ago. Said he's been having ups and downs with his health but is feeling good right now and won $200 on his birthday (he was 72 on the 4th) on a scratcher.

I am so done with Illinois Raffles. They usually have two with one at Halloween and the other in March for St. Patricks Day. I usually would just buy one $20 ticket and hope for the best, but so far I have not won squat. This last Halloween raffle, I splurged and bought two tickets at disparate times, and still I won squat. So I am done. I've bought several tickets for FL's raffle this year. I'll be happy with $1k, but it seems like this lottery has more and better payouts than some of the other state lotteries listed on this thread. Not sure why they wouldn't be more comparable from state to state if the revenue generated is the same...

Idaho did that a year or 2 ago, it was called Winner Take All or something like that. It wasn't the Holiday raffle though, they did an extra one earlier in the year. I only have 1 ticket for this year's raffle. That's all I'm willing to spend on a 1 in 250,000 chance at a million bucks. Good luck to you in ElGordo. Hope you win.

I bought 10 Connecticut SuperDraw tickets. (And I live in The State of New York)

10 bucks each, 275,000 max tickets to be sold. One guaranteed million dollar winner, I **think** four 20,000 dollar winners, and 1,100 100 dollar winners.

Drawing is 1/1/2013. Ct has been doing this twice a year since 2011, on New Years day, and on July 4th. I'm told tickets DIDNOT sell out for the 7/4/12 drawing.

Yeah, Kentucky had one like that and I slid over to Harlan to get me one. Shoulda knowed better with crows on the burn pile when I pulled down the mountain. Got a bad sign when I got there too. Whole dam* county was dry. I knowed right there things was goin' north. And they did. Big city boy up in Louisville caught it. Liked to make me cross. Don't believe they had one since.

We do but the one for this year sucks to say the least. It costs $10 and only one person will get half of the sales on D-Day.

I wish I had the motivation to visit my family in VA for christmas because I'd get me some raffle tickets.

I bought one ticket for the Ohio raffle. Will probably buy another one before the drawing.

Last year, I had a $100 winner. I bought more than one ticket though, so I didn't actually win $100. But I was happy to at least get back the money I spent though.

Here's a chart in Excel I made of the Powerball lottery comparing to the Virginia Raffle. It is the expected value of a $20 play. Basically, only when PB hits $199.8 million lump sum does the expected value equal that of the Virginia raffle. Also important to note is that this PB expected value rests on the assumption that the top prize does not get split with multiple tickets. Oh my head, the pain.

The way Illinois does the raffle it comes out to 509 winners and 499,491 losers. Gee which of those two categories your ticket will wind up in?

Even if you win $1M at a $20 price each dollar has won......$50,000. Not quite as strong as a draw game winner.

250,000 tickets will be sold for $10 each. Only 1 one million dollar prize available and 4 ten thousand dollar prizes plus some smaller prizes. Lame!

They've been having promos at different retailers across the valley. Show up during the 3 or 4 hour time frame that the lottery reps are there, buy 2 raffle tickets and get a $5 scratch off for free. Yeah its a great game. There has been 5 winners so far since it started last March. 3 in Massachusetts and 2 in Connecticut. That is $364,000 a year before taxes. They gurantee 20 years so if you pass before 20 years they still pay whats left to your estate or family. Im not sure how that works.
