They just moved Lotto here in IL so it wouldn't compete with PB... too early to tell if it will make much of a difference. But yeah, anemic growth and seems to keep rolling rolling rolling...

An extra buck? Heck no, raffles should be free!

Our CA Superlotto came out with a free raffle draws with every ticket, right before Powerball was introduced in CA. That would have been a nice feature to have as an alternative to PB. But they wimped out and yanked it after a few weeks. Dumb.

A lotto game needs to be sized properly for the player base.

When multi-states came in, that took away players from local state games. Revenue dropped, rollovers more common and rollover increments smaller. A smaller matrix may be needed. Or they need to enhance by upping the total payout above 50%, adding extras and powerplay as some have done, or other features such as raffles and replay entries.

First of all, state lotteries has to be self supporting and make money for the state. If you have an idea how it could continue doing that and be revamped, I'm sure some one at the state lottery commission would be interested in your idea.

Don't blame the multi-states.

They are using a divide and conquer strategy. There are so many games that nobody wins anything good on any of them. Don't forget we also have scratchers from $2-$20 now and we also have that awful crack keno (bar keno) that in over ten years has never had anybody win over $500,000 while waving $20,000,000 in front of them! 10 years and nobody has won the 20 mil

Hot Lotto has 15 states and Washington DC playing and only adds $50,000 each roll.

Something wrong there.

Plus, it's a fake computer drawing.

That's why the Dragon Lady got it for Tennessee.

She thought another lousy game with fake computer drawings might make her lousy games with fake computer drawings look good in comparison.

They just did the same thing with Texas Lotto. Used to be it would roll $1 million. Now it rolls $250000. Takes forever for the jackpot to grow. Then they added the extra feature, whereby a player pays an extra $1 to win more money on non jackpot prizes.

Big deal.

the multi states, and tought times mean lower prized state lottos are not getting played.They need to have higher pay ratios and cheaper entry points. 50c a game, 1 in 8 mill chance. higher prizes. less dollar prizes. say $1 m for a 1 in 8 mill chance. cut out the lower prizes too, no one wants to win $30, so cut it and pay out better prizes.

Oregon megabucks is the same way it rolls only a $100,000 every drawing and it use to be $200,000 so it takes a while to get to a decent jackpot.-weshar75

Might seem bad, but what are the total sales in lottery?

Florida Lotto has not had a winner since May 20th and the JP is only $50 million and we have drawings twice a week, but it only increases 1 or 2 million each rollover (3 million this last draw). When it first started in 88 or 89 it would start at $7 million but was only once a week. But now with a wide variety of scratch offs, and the MSL games, the jackpot is just not what it used to be, but yet this year has been record sales in lotte... [ More ]

The current Michigan Classic 47 has been around for 8 years and the news on the Michigan lottery web site says that if the Jackpot rolls Saturday it will be the 3rd largest for Classic 47.

1. 2008 23.5 million

2. 2009 18.5 million

3. 2013 13.3 million (if it rolls)

8 years of rotten jackpots and slow rolls.

The current run has taken 6 months to get this high.

Come on! Classic 47 is several years overdue for a revamp
