It most likely I would be on a mission to buy some tickets for myself and rather than buying her tickets also and confusing them with mine if I was lucky enough to win a jackpot I would say I'm sorry but I don't purchase other people tickets but I will be glad to guide you to the counter so you can purchase them yourself.

All good points but there need to be proof.....not speculation...and all stories are different...i mean what would stop just anybody who witnessed the event to say yeah they also gave you money and now they wanted their cut...I mean no I believe she is irrelevant and if I bought tickets for someone and they couldnt even stick around for me to return with them they must have wanted me to just keep them

Hey any lawyer would tell you the same thing...besides it's not ripping anyone off if she gave you the money then didnt stick around to get the ticket...Why wouldnt she wait around also how could she prove that you bought the ticket with her $5 anyways

I am not sure what law school a certain person attended and perhaps even a basic civics 101 class, (lol lol) but they might want to read prior real life stories on people who have given others money for tickets. Proof can be in the form of testimony, credibility, and other people who might have witnessed the event. None of these facts would be deemed irrelevant by any court or official.

If you find her then share some of the money with her.

Otherwise there is always family, church and the homeless.

Don't worry too much about her, there are plenty of needy street people out there.

NO you don't...lol there maybe an ethical obligation to the woman but not too lottery officials officials also how would she prove that the money she gave you wasn't already yours and she was returning it to you or if she gave you money to buy milk and you bought lottery tickets instead how would she prove that that wasn't the case that's what makes her irrelevant

No, it would not be irrelevant. If someone gave you $ to purchase a ticket, you have a legal and ethical obligation to tell the lottery officials. it is no different than all the other related but similar fact patterns and litigation where people argue over whether money loaned for a ticket meant something else, i.e. a promise to share. Yeah but seeing as it was you who actually purchased the tickets and if there was a video of her giving you money there is no way at all that it could be linked to the ticket...it's not about having the lottery search for the lady, but why would they when they have video of you purchasing the ticket and then you present the ticket...the little old lady sad to say would be irrelevant

The fact that the ticket is a bearer instrument in only the first step in the verification process. There could be a video of her giving the person money to buy her tickets. In addition, what does anyone have to lose with having the lottery search for this little old lady? I think it is likely you will get half of it anyway and it would be reasonable for you to say you thought/assumed you would split any win. If she does not show up, you get all of it.

The alternative to the OPs question would be to go to the lottery and have them issue a press alert for the old lady. That is when the circus would begin. And then the state would most likely end up with that money.

feeling like a Good Samaritan you agree.

when you return back outside the lady is gone' you look around some but she is nowhere to be found

that evening one of the five tickets turns out to be a jackpot winner.

my question is do you search for vera to share? Or say fuk that blind old lady this is my money
