I purchase one ticket every draw on the mm and powerball. When it gets over 500 million I will purchase up to 20 mm tickets (no multiplier) and up to 10 powerball tickets (no powerplay). I won't spend over $20 on any draw and if I choose to add the multiplier I would decrease my tickets in half to compensate. After the jackpot is hit I go back to my one ticket.

According to this poll, one member would bet $500, and another would bet $1000.

I didn't know Pete Rose and Charles Barkley were members of LP!

Extra tickets will not necessarily help you, but handicapping those tickets might.

While being an expert at baseball, or basketball should not necessarily predispose one to suppose they are an expert at lottery,

one should have an open mind and realize there might be a lot of lottery strategies that can be found, that are also unknown.

That is why I do not get jackpot fever when the jackpot amount revs up because the amount of the jackpot only matters to the person or persons holding the winning ticket.

I merely make sure I have a few plays in by subscription. Then I may purchase up to $5 more at a local store since online one draw purchase requires a minimum purchase of $5 (I like to buy one ticket at one place, then stop at another place the next day and buy two tickets and then buy another two tickets on day of drawing

Yeah. If PB keeps rolling it could be about $250 million at the same time that MM hits a billion. Who wouldn't want to spend the same amount of money to have 3/4 the chance of winning 25% as much instead of buying MM tickets

That combo will be the most shared jackpot of all time if its drawn.

I stay away from it like the plague!

But to answer the OPQ, I normally play between 0 and 10 dollars for any given MegaJackpot. (Probably only three bucks tonite)

Sometimes when you bet more, (without a comprehensive wheeling strategy) then you are simply fueling a fear frenzy and betting against yourself.

Now a billion dollar jackpot would certainly attract some hi-rollers, but Would it not be better to do say 15 s... [ More ]

.....you Right ! it would take that much money spent in tickets in different numbers combinations to cover the spread of the odd % : in mm 258.8 plus ... pb 350.2 plus million dollars ; but it only takes 1-2 dollars with the right numbers to produce a winner .

It looks like you would wager $5 or $6 regardless of the price of a ticket. Will you only wager when you believe the jackpot will be won?

I'd pay attention to the size of the jump that leads to the $1 billion jackpot.

Considering how much was bet on the $600 million MM jackpot ($651,915,940), it's doubtful we'll see a $1 billion jackpot.

I'd wager the same amount on a Billion Dollar Jackpot as I do on the Starting Jackpot.

Based on the odds.

Since a bigger Jackpot doesn't make it any more likely for me to win, why would I bet more

If PB and MM both offered $1 billion jackpots, MM players would have to spend, on average, $259 million to produce each $1 billion winner. PB players would have to spend $350 million.

I'd probably spring for 5 of the MM tickets and 2 or 3 of the PB tickets, but I'd pay attention to the size of the jump that leads to the $1 billion jackpot. If sales are high enough that there's a very good chance of mutliple winners I'd figure I'm only playing for $500 million.... [ More ]

I remember when MM jp rose to $650M in 2011. I spent $34 and won nothing. And that was when the jackpot odds was sensible. I wouldn't buy more than 2 lines if any at all.

I believe that is true RJOH...I think the last two big powerball winners said they bought about $20 worth of tickets...of course that is only 10 lines for powerball...but I think with the big jackpots that's a good place to start
