The number of combinations isn't a simple linear function of how many numbers you have to choose from Adding those 19 numbers resulted in about 4.52 times as many possible combinations, so only 1/4.52 or 22.1% of the possible combinations can be made using only numbers from the old matrix.

I dont think it was not that so much that LUCK was not on their side.

But certainly random was not.

It is not likely that a billion dollar jackpot will ever be hit.

The odds that random wil ever win over human ingenuity and human intuition and human observation is rather slim. IMHO.

However rapacious MUSL ultimately decides to be, they have to still not cheat. Its easy to spot a cheater.

If they wanted to rig the lottery, they wouldn't need to rely on luck that someone would play the numbers they draw. That's exactly how the lottery is played anyways.

They would just go into their database and pick a random line of numbers that has been played and then have the machine (however they might end up pulling that one off) select those numbers.

Didnt anybody notice that the numbers were Old Matrix and that the Mega Number was 7, which is a number that hits often?

If you were to rig the New MM Lottery and wanted it to hit on a certain night, wouldnt you make sure the numbers were like this? Its almost gaurenteed that one person who never changed thier numbers after the change and continued using the same numbers would hit it

How can I say this politely? Some people have ideas of what makes sense that aren't well supported by reality. There used to be a guy here who thought that if a winner was sold in his state he'd have a better chance for the next jackpot by buying his tickets in a different state, because he figured it was unlikely that the next winner would be sold in the same state. I would add, increase the payout for the 4/5!

The proportion of chance and payout is really science fiction compared to a fair game.

They also might limit the payout for the jackpot to 400 000 000. The money reserve would be recycled for lower prices.

We are not in a Roman theater or arena or amphitheatre, last survivor gets money, freedom and glory.

Another point is to bring up the tax regulation. Make the winnings free of tax.

They should cap it at a billion and roll the ticket sales to the first drawing after the billion is won....Then they could start the next jackpot at about 100 million plus...

Yep, they definitely wanted that roll to a billion dollars real bad. But luck was not on their side.

They had luck on their side on the record JP in 2012, when the 2nd to last draw with $191M in sales rolled. But this time, luck was not on their side, and the most probable thing occurred at the $337M sales mark: 2 winners.

It'll most likely hit a billion JP in 2014. They just need to get lucky on 1 of the few big runs.

There will never be a billion dollar jackpot. It seems like everytime a jackpot hits the $500+ mil mark it all of a sudden becomes way too easy to win.

If high numbers would have been drawn, I bet this one would have rolled though.

And how is it the 2nd prize winners (20 this latest drawing and 12 I believe in the last) none of them had a multiplier? Sorry, but it just seems a bit odd to me.

As ttech10 and others have said, most people don't play the extra $1 or they play it on another ticket (MM).

If you watch the drawings when they announce 2nd prize winners it's rare that any of them had played the Megaplier or the Powerplay.

Reminds me of a poster (who is now in the land of no avatar ) a couple years ago who whined every time there was a 5+0 or jackpot winner from Pa. I used to get a laugh from him. He really thought Pa was in on a conspiracy with PB and MM. I think his handle was Scorpio? Not sure.

Perhaps you right, but if you do a search of some past winners you will find some coming out of Iowa, Ohio one even from the Virgin Islands.

That tells me that the lottery is pure chance. The folks who put this matrix together were no idiots, these guys had mathematicians in on this making sure that they could get screwed less but at the same time doing major screwing to the betting public. From a very casual observation (have no data to back this up), it seems like as the jackpot grows larger more people stop playing the megaplier. I assume they buy more tickets in pursuit of the jackpot rather than spending money on multipliers.

The woman in Georgia picked her own numbers from what I've read. Your complaint does not have a leg to stand on.

Consider that last year the biggest JP was won by 3 individuals from different States. What would be your response to that sir?

In fact people started naming their babies after a one infamous Haitian female named Mirlande came forward claiming to be one of the winners.

It's hard to say it is rigged but I don't think it is true random number picking. I too noticed that the second place 2 tickets wins were won in California, Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, and New York, the normal winning states. But, I have to say Pennsylvania was on a roll as far as having alot of wins vs. other states that normally have no winners at all. I play more of my own numbers vs. qp's and my own chase drawing to drawing numbers.

After this latest megamillions drawing and seeing how a couple states had multiple second prize winners of $1,000,000 (Georgia being one of them on top of the jackpot ticket????) and my state Pennsylvania had zero 2nd place winners again I think something somewhere is rigged.
