Can't agree with you on this one......while the 50 millionaires is a nice thought.....realistically there won't be folks

that will hang onto that money for the following reasons:

1) People will probably pay off their debt

2) Will spend money foolishly

3) Will give it away to family and some friends

4) Will be taxed on it.(not sure that the way the title is posted if the $50 million is after tax or not...After tax is dropping 50 millionaires back to $640,000.00... [ More ]

Thats what I always said...... $5000.00 would help more people these days than one person winning it all.If these state lotteries would do something different they would see sales go up more.

ive been waiting for 1 big winner to split it with me, and it aint happening. i like the tons of millionaires ea weeks draw. sure i get attracted to huge jackpots. but i think a game that spread it around; and not in $3 prizes, would be really popular

Im with you. I can go either way. I'd love to win a huge jackpot by myself and I also like to win a jackpot that is split up all over the place between me and others across the states.

The more the merrier.

Here in Ireland 65% of the total take of the Irish Lottery funds social projects and executive salaries with around 4.4 billion funding projects since 1986.

Lottery officials blame a fall in sales in 2013 on not enough rollovers. Sales were down 7% to 685m.

As usual the biggest losers regardless the prize size, is the punter.

I would have to go with the one big winner mainly because if I were lucky enough to win, I would be splitting it with others and would also want to help my family, friends and church. One. Million after taxes would not go that far. On the other hand I would like to see many others be blessed.

Apparently, we're getting a hybrid of what you're talking about in the U.S., a new MUSL game similar to Lotto Max. Jackpot cap, and if the rollovers reach the cap, the number of secondary $1 million prizes keeps growing, so more people have chances to win $1 million.

A smaller game with a first price of a mini--million and with nice payouts for 3/6, 4/6 and 5/6, is pretty attractive to play. Let's not forget that the price for a combination 1$ would also be very appealing.

I know I'm in the minority but I'd choose 50 millionaires.

I say that because I'd like to have a better chance of actually winning something before I'm dead and bloated rather than a microscopic chance at multi-millions.

And I don't give a rat's ass about social responsibilities or impact on society. What's that got to do with winning the lottery anyway
