No doubt that those who run the lotteries prefer more frequent winners as opposed to large time gaps between winners.

The big jackpots attract a lot of occasional players.

It's also kind of entertaining that the same people who want to see rollover after rollover get so p.o'd when someone else wins and it's not them, or they get upset about the location of the winner.

We'll never see another $300 million jackpot. Sales have been weak because it keeps getting hit too, making it take 14 rollovers just to reach 300+ and all the more likely it gets hit before then. The two games are working against each other.

The thing I remember about jackpot fever is passing stores that sell lottery tickets and seeing their parking lots full, along with the long lines to get tickets. I also remember multiple people at work running lottery pools and getting in on all of them. One lady charged $5 each and we had over 100 tickets. No big winners though.

Even the regulars that want to spread it around are upset and missing big jackpot fever. You know it admit it! When i saw Todd write two articles back to back going from 160 million up to only 180 million you know people are ready for a big one.

I'm not sure if I miss it but it was interesting to watch on TV when it does happen. All those high emotions from lots of people standing in long lines waiting to buy tickets for that 1 massive jackpot is kinda fun to watch. I bought a few tickets once when there was a jackpot fever a couple years ago but I didnt win. Instead I just mostly watch and read the news about it. Jackpot Fever is exciting! I wish they had a 2nd set of numbers drawn right after the 1st draw, kind of like a 2nd chance , but you know it would cost you any extra dollar and would be the same as buying 5 extra tickets I guess.

Yes, this has been a dull summer with respect to lottery jackpots. Even our Scratchers aren't generating much excitement.

Although our Powerball 5/5 prize tonight is over $7 million, it's been rolling over for quite some time. I'm in it tonight for PB until someone wins the 5/5 prize.

I remember when those big jackpots were won many saying it would be nice if the jackpots were smaller with more winners. Now that second prize winners are getting a million dollars and the big jackpots are smaller and being won more often should make a lot of players happy. There's still the chance that a big jackpot can happen, after all they happened when the odds of winning were better.

It's probably a lot better to hit a jackpot that isn't getting national attention than one that is.

You'd still get hounded anyway but hopefully wouldn't get 'relatives' you never knew you had from faraway states putting the bite on you.

Of course if you live in one of the few states that allows you to remain anonymous it wouldn't matter.

I like both big and small jackpots because you need a little one before they reach out this world levels. Plus with my lotto budget being around $100 for each month I like to play a couple a dollars on every jackpot not a lot on a big jackpot. Some players like to wait for the big ones and then spend big on them but I like the spend a little on each one and see if I can get a decent prize level that way. You never know when lady luck is going to give your ticket the winning numbers.-weshar75

400 people?!!! I don't mind spliting 400 million with two, three or even four people but no way 400 people on a 400 million jackpot. Remember if you take the cash option and pay all the taxes, you'll be lucky to bring home under $500,000. I do like it better when two hit the mega jackpots rather then one. Of course if I was the only winner, I wouldn't lose much sleep over it.

The larger the numbers, the bigger the thrill and excitement. I guess maybe in a way it's kind of good that huge jackpots aren't so frequent. If they were, then people would get use to them and the excitement still wouldn't be there.

The media was interviewing the hopefuls in line buying tickets. We all know hitting is a long shot, but it was the exciting around the whole thing that made it fun, Discussing what you would do if it was you who hit. Is it me or is it that the lottery has become kind of blah with the absence of the huge MM and Powerball jackpots? Do you miss jackpot fever
