I hope she still has her money too. It has been debated here because some of us think that her husband was helping her spend her money, first being a Bugatti as a wedding present! Now that I think about it, Cynthia must be one of the most popular as one of two of her profiles is always on the shows.

Some episodes are on youtube. For me, I keep track of TLC's The Lottery Changed My Life because they periodically run the reruns, three or four at a time and almost always on Saturday mornings. Cynthia's updated or the second profile was shown.

I would not have gone public the way she did but I do like her and wish her the best. It would sadden me to find out she lost it all. But as I've said before, it's been over 7 years, if she really was spending as much as she tried to portray, she'd have been broke already. She seems like a nice lady who seems to crave the spotlight a little too much, but the truth is I'm glad that she is milking her 15 minutes for all it's worth, because I enjoy hearing about her and her life.... I came across something with pictures of them attending some Hollyweird function and it mentioned her and her husband by names. Sorry to hear she married him. She deserves happiness but I dont think I am the only one that saw how superficial and insincere he appeared, he had $$$ signs in his eyes. Wonder if there is a charity and business left after her marriage?

I'm rescinding what I said about Cynthia falling off the radar. Found a 20 minute video on YouTube where she gave a talk at Up Church and did some Q A. I'm thinking that it's recent because she mentions her husband and that the kids are 18 19. Sadly she makes no mention of her business or her charity which I wanted to hear about.

You know Teddi, I have been thinking about what you posted and have to agree with you. David started off well, and the act of hiring a financial advisor showed good intent. I recall him saying he was not going to be one of the winners that lost it all. Once the drugs entered the picture again it was all downhill, the wife had several unsuccessful stints in rehab and trouble with police.

I will maintain that 95% of David's problems were caused by his wife. In the beginning, he really did everything he was supposed to do. Moved away from fair weather friends, got into a gated community, put his daughter in private school and got a good financial advisor. And when his wife started using drugs again, he kicked her to the curb after numerous stints in rehab (he paid for) failed. Being an ex addict himself, he didn't want to be lured into it again.

Bank of America wouldnt be entitled to anything other than what was loaned and besides they are the worst.

Buying a home with association fees would be the last thing I would do. Having someone tell me what I can and cannot do would not go over well. As for security, with the kind of money he won, he could have private security with his own gated entry.

Money and a drug problem = lethal combo.

David Edwards paid cash for his house when he initially purchased it back in 2001. He later took a mortgage out through Bank of America for $400k when he started running out of money. The HOA dues are a monthly recurring fee set by the association and is not part of the home price or mortgage.

The note holder/BOA only wanted their investment back which is why the home was auctioned off at $400k

David Lee Edwards bought a 4,410 sq. ft. home in Palm Beach gardens, FL in October, 2001 for $1.195 million which was less than a month after collecting his winnings. He did pay his HOA dues up until his money starting running out in 2005 thus falling behind on his monthly payments.

The Home owners association foreclosed on his home because he was in arrears by roughly $5,000 and sold it at auction in June, 2006 for $400k. An investor purchased the home and ended up flipping it in March, 2007... [ More ]

I would assume or hope that if one keeps on the lowdown and quiet they cant be writing about you. That would be my wish when I win. Move, buy lots of land, secure it and have privacy.

Cynthia Stafford won a $112 million lottery back in 2007 and the cash value was $67 million. After all Federal taxes were factored, the net payout after it was split with her brother and father was less than $15 million.

Her brother and father most likely still have most of their funds but I highly doubt Cynthia has much left.

That was David Lee Edwards from Kentucky and truly a sad story. David married his girlfriend and they both had a very bad drug problem, you can only guess the outcome from there. Lots of drugs for his friends, some of which overdosed and died.

To me his story was the most tragic. He did hire a financial advisor who said after David's death, had he followed his advice and invested the $27 million he could have lived off the interest alone of $83,000 a MONTH. Who in their right mind could not l... [ More ]

Cannot recall the name of the late jackpot winner who left absolutely nothing to his stepdaughter but wasn't shy in going ahead and purchasing $200K worth of medieval armor and the like.From what I heard, he died penniless. How sad.

I think your talking about Willis Willis(Texas). He was able to get some of the money and moved to Arizona I believe to be close to his daughter who was in college. I don't know if they ever caught the clerk he moved back to his native country.

I have it automatically DVR'd. I love watching it. I am curious about the situation where the fellow got ripped off by the clerk who told him he had won $2 when he actually won a million dollars. The lottery officials contacted him and told him, but how did they know and what made them check into it? How did they know who to notify as the actual winner? Frankly, I just think there's something off about Alex's way of thinking. Perhaps his grief has addled his brain.

The most contradictory thing about this guy is that he still plays. Though he claims if he wins again he'll be donating the entire win to charity. Yeah right. He's telling everyone who will listen not to play because it's a curse to win and yet, he's hoping for a second win. And the kicker, he still has some of his winnings left. Why not just donate that to charity now?

As for the win being a curse, how about it being a curse because of their own bad choices? I am not surprised loans were not paid back, it has been said before, they feel the winner has so much money, they wont miss it and dont need it, therefore dont feel obligated to repay, but filing bk to avoid repayment is just low.....a... Yes, I saw him on the news on Thursday. He was very emphatic that it was a curse, but his reasons for saying it was a curse weren't really sound.

He loaned out $3 million to friends and family and they never paid him back and apparently some even filed bankruptcy to get out of paying him. That's unfortunate but I don't see how that's a curse. It's not like he was kidnapped or murdered for his money. Simple rule is don't loan out or invest more than you can afford to lose.

I agree! I am hoping all is well and that the family is still going strong. Lots of children to take care of and put through college. I was curious about her production company as well, but not getting much on that either. As you suggested, she might be playing it low keyed and trying to re-strategize with whatever remains if her win-fall.

Cynthia loved the spotlight, which is why her suddenly falling off the radar for the last few years is odd. Every time there was a big jp she was giving interviews on any tv show that would have her. I think Alex Snelius is an older gentlemen who lost his wife shortly after winning. Once that happened the money meant nothing to him. He also was very religious and was building a little chapel in his wifes's name on his property? If I have the right guy, I can understand his feeling the money was a curse. I watched that TV show Hoarders, and then wanted to clean my basement, garage and home office, not as bad as a hoarder of course

I really dont think with the claiming anonymously issue ongoing people want to put themselves out there for the crazies to find them. If I was lucky enough to win, there is NO way I would ever go on a show. I would make sure to send a legal representative to claim on my behalf and NO photo conference either. Hypocritical I know, I love to watch the shows but wouldnt want to be one of them. So I will continue to get enjoyment watching reruns.
