I haven't posted anything about the game since I didn't think anyone was much interested. I have been following the game since the jackpot was hit in early March ... it went five drawings and stayed at $500,000 ($360,000 cash) and then for last night ... Wed Mar 25 the jackpot was raised to $600,000 ($460,000 cash) and for Sat Mar 28 the jackpot annunity amount is still $600,000 but the cash option went up $30,000 ... it will be $490,000 cash for Saturday.

G5 ... This is one very strange game ... tonight (Sat) will be the third drawing since the jackpot was hit and the the jackpot is still $500,000 ... they have not added $1 to the pot. I would think they could of added at least $5,000 after each drawing.

I know that sales are probably slow with the new low jackpot but they should be able to add $5,000 or something to the jackpot after every draw. As I said earlier, PA is all cash and they add $50,000 after every draw and then $100,000 or more

Perhaps a better way to play the Megabucks Doubler is not to sign up for a year but to renew in three month increments ... that way if the jackpot does get hit then a person can skip three or six months to let the jackpot build up.

You hit the nail on the head with that statement. MMD is a 6/49 game carrying almost 14 million to 1 odds (very difficult odds) and all The Mass Lottery will pay out is $500,000 if the jackpot is hit early on? And the winner wouldn't even get $500,000 after... [ More ]

Yeah the jackpot take so long to grow. I think the highest it ever got was 14 million back in March 2012 I believe. I loved Megabucks before it was hit. It was the best jackpot game to play for the odds. The ticket was purchased in the same town as the last time it was won also. I think it stays at $500,000 for so long is because probably barely anyone is playing it when it is at the starting jackpot. I know I don't play it when it's at $500,000. I've been looking at the Mass Lottery's website and I can see the Jackpot history for Mass Megabucks Doubler.

The recent JP of 4.8 million started building last September.

It seems like the JP gets hit every 4 or 5 months, but I don't understand why when it does get hit, it stays at $500,000 for three or four drawings before it starts growing... Looks like the highest the JP ever got was 6 million, and then somebody hit it. G5

Ain't that a kick in the head ... probably take forever to get that high again, not sure when it was last hit or how long it took to get that high.

Well technically I can play advance play and go back within the claiim period, but i'm not very fond of putting up with hundreds of dollars when i'm here with my girlfriend... were not planning to go back here soon anyway, so only a big win would take us back to NY.

It's 100% ok to play as a non-resident alien and collect wins, it even says so on official powerball FAQ site.

My mistake ... if you did Powerball advance play, that might work if you buy the ticket in NY ... in Pennsylvania a person has one year to cash a ticket, I don't know if NY also has a year to cash a winning ticket ... some states are only six months and there might be some states with only three months to cash winning tickets, I do... Sad to say I realised that I cannot start an subscription now that I'm here in New York because I don't have an adress in the US when I sign up, using the adress to the hotel not beeing such a great idea. That was my educated guess anyway, but after going back a second time and looking at the Mass Lottery website, they do show a sample Season Ticket which has just one line and one control number on it, and the ticket is good for multiple drawings!

The sample has dates of May through August of 1995 on it!!

So who knows what you'll get in that envelope! G5

Now I have to play the waiting game till March 22nd ... I didn't do bad on the PA 6/49 game last night (Mon) ... I had nine $2 tickets ... $18 total cost and I won $19, always nice to get your money back to play with again.

My guess is that you're going to get two tickets in the envelope. I say that because according to The MA Lottery's website each Season Ticket has a control number printed on it.

Here's a cut 'n paste from the MA Lottery website regarding Season Tickets and The Season Ticket Doubler and the control number.

Yes, one ticket or one line of numbers ... now I have no idea what will be in the envelope when it arrives ... two actual tickets or everything printed on one piece of paper.

I had my numbers ready to go when I called.

If you think about it ... if a person gets the $100 subscription for $90 during the Holiday Special ... it says you will save $14 ... so you get the $4 UPS charge back and still have a $10 break on the subscription. You could look at it that way.

I think what you're telling me is that there is only one line printed on each ticket, as opposed to NY where I could buy a ticket for 3 dollars with 6 lines printed on it. (That'd be for a ticket I bought at a retailer. In MA, if I bought a ticket at a retailer, there'd be one line on it. I cant buy a ticket with two or more lines printed on it. Correct?)

I have a subscription to NY's Lotto, but I know you have to have a physical mailing address in the State of New York to purchase one. It's a 6/59 matrix with a bonus ball, and the odds stink compared to a 6/49 game like Mass Megabucks Doubler. Had I known I could get a subscription to Mass MegaBucks Doubler, I might not have re-upped my Lotto subscription like I just did last week. Instead I might have bought a Mass MegaBucks subscription.

I like the 6/49 type game so I have it covered now in MA and PA ... I trust the MA system for the Megabucks Doubler with me being out of state.

I do like the Lotto 6/49 game in Canada but the MA game just cost a $1 and no extra purchase or double ticket price ... outside of the $4 UPS charge.

Well I decided to get tickets for the MA Megabucks Doubler ... I played two sets of numbers for three months and then will renew in June for six months ... that will take me into the new Holiday discount period that starts in November.

The $4 charge only applies to the current order ... no matter how many number sets you decide to play.

I was surprised that I won't be entered until the March 22nd drawing ... I was hoping for an entry this week.

OK ... I just got off the phone with the MA Lottery and got some answers to how they are able to have the Megabucks Doubler played over state lines.

That is the only MA game that can be played across state lines because it is strictly a MA game, the other games can't be played that way ... if I understood it right.

When you sign up, there is a $4 extra charge for the subscription, if you are out of state ... that is a charge for UPS mailing ... they can't send anything through the Post Off... [ More ]

I did not know about Megabucks either I agree maringoman if your state does not offer a state lotto this would be a good idea. I am not familiar with subscriptions so I don't know how that works. I remember reading a horror story about a guy in New York years ago that had a subscription but never got his confirmation number and the number he picked came out and he was not able to collect so make sure you get your confirmation #. I have another question about the subscription ... if you sign up for a year, can you change the numbers to another set of numbers ... say after six months or so? I'm thinking probably not ... but just asking.

It is the perfect setting for lottery enthusiasts who live in Mississippi, Alaska, Alabama, Utah and Nevada where there is no state lottery available.

I live in Louisiana and we frequently get winners from Mississippi, which doesn't have a lottery. You can play any state's lottery providing you can actually get to that state to buy tickets. One weekend I played 3 state lotteries, Louisiana, Colorado, and Idaho. I went to Boise on business and passed through the Denver airport on the way home and found a place selling tickets, so I bought some there too.

Over the last month I became aware that people living anywhere in the US can play the MA Megabucks Doubler. I guess this must be the only state that does this, is that correct?

I have a tax question ... in PA all lottery game wins are state tax free but I am guessing that a lottery win from another state would be taxed in PA or in MA or both, if the jackpot is won ... or smaller wins of $600 and more?

Anybody from out of state have any $600 + wins with this game ?
