Est. $3,500-$4,000 since I started playing back in 2002. Just did my tally for taxes 2015. Not counting winners; I lost $1,246 in 2015. I don't keep track of my winners. I mistakenly put a $2 winner in with the losers. I have $2 bucks waiting for me in Texas

I'm wild for espresso. I don't even drink regular coffee, so that's my... um... addiction. Should've bought stock in it years ago. I just need a bigger lottery win to keep my Starbucks card filled!

But you know, it is hard to get through life without a little sin, a little devil to pull at your pocketbook. I don't smoke, drink heavily or gamble the rent away at casinos, so I have to cut myself some slack.

Ah, addiction justification, yeah.... haha

I've probably spent hundreds so far and it will probably be in the thousands years from now but yeah it's a shot at the American dream. Always spend what you can afford and I can afford to lose that much.

Been playing the jackpot games for 30 years at least. Add in the side games like pick 3, pick 4, scratchers, and others, and it will take a $50,000 win at least to come out ahead.

Crossing my fingers i will eventually hit a decent win so i can say i have broke even or won more then i have paid in, until then i am upside down. I mostly only play PB/MM and hoosier lotto. My lottery budget a week is $8. I love to play but i love guaranteeing my own JP for retirement by saving my money more.... so i keep a pretty tight budget limit for gambling given the odds are not in my favor to see a return on what i spend on it. Ya gotta be in the game to win though...so each week i buy

Cable, dining out and vacations are tangible outcomes. Yes gambling can also be considered entertainment but, the difference is that in the gambling sector of the entertainment, there is no guarantee. Cable, dining, vacations..etc..are all tangible guaranteed outcomes.

IMO Gamblers should only wage on monies they can afford to lose.

there isn't an easy way to calculate over the years, unless you keep track of all $ spent on every ticket. I never felt so lucky to have won more than what I spent...at least 10 times more.

I hope those who are spending too much will take a step back and think it over.

Not much really, I am 22 and didn't really start playing till I was like 19.... I'm fine with throwing 2 at a draw every now and then for the chance to win millions.... I am keeping track of my spending to give myself an idea this year tho although it has been an expensive month since the EuroMillions UK Lotto jackpots has been so high! It has been won now tho so I doubt I will even play unless it gets back up there quickly..

$5 a day for 10 years is $16,000(estimate)

Take away your one or two hits and you're in the hole big time
