Whenever you play big money tickets, The clerk knows if anybody won something decent.

Usually the people who play these, play them one at a time until they hit something good.

Like a $100 / $500 or more. Then the rest of the book is usually only going to produce $10 -$20 -$25 at the max.

Remember that when you buy tickets that are that expensive there are only about 15-30 tickets in a book for $30 tickets.

Not sure on the $20 tickets but I think they are around 25 tickets in a book.

Right, same here, 5 bucks a week max. Disgusting to have 4/5 duds of the $20 tickets especially if you buy them all in order from the same roll. Then for just one to be a low winner. You said it: Be at the right place at the right time, because people from small towns do win

Yeah, I agree man. That, and the odds are just so insane that you have to be at the right place at the right time. A large amount of the FL lotto winners seem to be in the Miami/south Florida area, and part of the reason for that is because more people play down there.

Chasing winners just seems pointless because a person wont get ahead unless get extremely lucky. The lotto has to make money some way, and the elusive dream of hitting the jackpot is what keeps people spending. I'm so dis... [ More ]

I could've bought 270 $1 dollar tickets!! I mean they could've at least gave the illusion that I won 5 or so bucks on each one. But $0!! Yes, that's brutal for a $30 or $50 ticket. Very brutal. I learned something. I think the people who win the top prizes are somehow connected to someone important. I just don't think the everyday person can win a top prize. And that's where the lotto gets us! They try to encourage casual players who buy $20+ tickets to see the high frequency of free tickets , and the occasional $100 winner+ to throw us a piece of steak here and there. The amount of duds within $20+ tickets is still prevalent, and buying a large number can easily result in getting burnt fast.

You are so right about the big tickets not being much better. We have two $50 scratch offs in Texas and you can play 4 or 5 and not even win your money back.

That is brutal!! The other day I went back to the same convenience store that was selling the lucky pack of $50 tickets ( the one with the $1,750 winner). I used to go for the big tickets but experience has shown me they're not much better. I think my signature sums that up pretty well. Like if you want the big bux, you gotta shell out. But if you just want free money, dollar games are not all that bad if you play one here and there.

Makes me feel better. Thanks. Originally I thought 30 dollar tickets would be better than the lower cost ones. Before you posted this reply I went and bought 5 more, but they were from 2 different dispensers (but could be from the same pack, not sure how it works), and still not really in order. I've only gotten a chance to scratch 1 of them so far, and it yielded $0.00. I'll be back to post when I scratch the other four. I doubt that I'll ever be buying anymore ever again.

You have to go with the odds and sometimes the odds don't work in your favor. It's designed that way and it doesn't matter what state you're buying tickets in, it's the same all around.

You spent $120.00 and won $50.00 which means you lost $70.00. The overall odds for that game are one in 2.75 so it's pretty much par for the course.

I'd say buy more tickets if and when you can afford it but always be mindful of those odds and hey, maybe the next ticket you'll purchase will have one of the... [ More ]

Oh, and I got it from a Speedway gas station from a human clerk. With a ticket that is that price, I should have at least gotten my money's worth.

Visited Ohio. Played 4 $30 tickets (300,000,000 Spectacular) consecutive tickets from the same roll. It seemed as if it was going to have the best odds in the world based off of my research, but 3 of those tickets yielded $0. And 1 yielded $50, so $70 down. What do ya think? Should I pursue the next five on that roll, or just forget about it. If you go on their website, you will see that they have tons of Top Prizes still around.
