Pathetically sad! 1/3 of the $67 million cash value is around $22.3 million. No California lottery tax, but 2007 federal tax would have been around $7.8 million, leaving an after-tax balance of around $14.5 million. Invest in something like VWEAX that provides monthly dividends, set aside an amount to pay estimated quarterly taxes, and budget the balance accordingly. Just not all that complicated

I agree that she did have it all and what how it played out is just another cautionary example for future winners not to follow.

I am quite surprised about Cynthia's situation. I would have thought that she would have put her winnings into Preferred Stocks that would have provided her with a steady source of income. But when I saw her and the Ex-Boyfriend on TLCML, I was fearing that she would go broke. It's strange that the Lottery winners who actually grow their wealth are the ones who shun the cameras...

First it was not perceived, second it occurred due to a manipulated run-up in housing prices fueled by government backed no doc mortgages. Third, though it did seriously dent the American economy, it in no way almost took it down . And, again, this has NOTHING to do with Cynthia and her $112 million lottery win and HER mortgage specifically, as was being discussed. Google it
