playng the lottery again and again is not insane because every time you play there is a different effect, meaning it plays a different set of numbers, so... it is possible you might end up with a different result, that is when your tickets(hope you are buying the same ones every time and not buying quick pick) match up with the ever changing drawings.

Also, only about 3 years ago, during a conversation with my dad, when I mentioned there were about 60 million people who died in WWII, his ignorance once again resurfaced.

Basically he was in denial that 6 million Jews were slaughtered. So my next question to him was...Do you also believe that about 50 million people died in WWII was also fiction? ...well...he took a few seconds to answer and then denied that event occurred. That's not exactly correct because one ticket out of almost 155.5 million sold matched the winning MM numbers. But considering all the tickets sold in the drawings building the jackpot, there are lots of zeros in the percentage chances of winning.

Good luck in your search in finding your system. Could you name some of these people on this site that you say do not know or understand the astronomical odds of winning the jackpot? You do not have to out your friends - just name a handful here in the Forum that are completely in the dark when talking odds? As you said, l would be surprised, surprise me Amber.

Insulting? You'd be surprised by the number of people who truly don't understand the astronomical odds, both on this site and friends and relatives. They may hear or read about the odds but it doesn't register. How many threads have you seen that is about someone knowing for an absolute fact that they will win someday?...That's insane.

I buy a ticket everyday for either Cash 3 4, Powerball, Mega Millions, Tn Cash, Hot Lotto and Cash 4 Life. It gives me something to look forward to. I can dream and no one can take that away from me. Even if I don't win at least im helping put kids through college. My daughter got a full ride to college from The Tn Lottery.

But who cares about big jackpots? The OP only mentioned the biggest 2 games. There's many easier games and also 2nd/3rd prize wins. I don't even chase or expect the big jackpots from playing random draws.

$100,000 jackpot pales in comparison to a multi-million dollar jackpot, but that's a lot of money someone in their late 20s without tons of debt could use. Plus it's far more acheivable.

What's truly insane is that it's WAY too easy for winners to win. All they do is go up, buy tickets, and BOOM just win big jackpots at will. Some of us play HARD and play smart by playing trends and can't even win $100.

Don't get me wrong, I respect your opinion, but personally I don't spend a few bucks as entertainment when playing a game that I know for a fact that 99% of the people playing, will never win, ever. I'll spend a few bucks on some good Whiskey for entertainment.

At least I know 100% for sure I will get something out of it. Imagine I spent 40 bucks or more on whiskey and knew ahead of time that there would only be about a 1% chance I would get a buzz?

The fact that it only costs a buck or two is irrelevant due to the astronomical odds against you or me winning. Most people only focus on the winner, but avoid the multitudes of losing tickets.

Most people will play the JP games for 20 or 30 years and NEVER EVER win the JP, that's a fact. I do realize the temptation to play because it's enticing. The thought of living the rest of your life comfortably is on my mind too, but my mind deals with reality and the odds.

25% is not insane by any stretch. We need to have a uniform tax rate so that everyone can do the math on how much they'll pay. A 50% tax on winnings at time of claim is fair. You deduct the state taxes off the federal bill and thus everyone will pay an equal amount. Of course, it's unlikely to pass but it would be a great and simple solution.

That's a good analogy. Some spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars to view a sporting event or concert and take home short lived memories. Lottery players for the most part spend quite a bit less but have the opportunity to win millions of $$$. My take on purchasing PB or MM tickets is strictly entertainment... with a remote possibility of winning a decent prize.

Recently l read of front row tickets to the nba finals going for $29k - if that's not insanity, what is. The soccer match between Mexico Chile was played in Santa Clara a little over a month ago- 70,000 fans showed up- nose bleed seats went for $400.00. Make the connection . In my opinion Einstein never intended this statement to apply to a closed number universe where the answer changes with each sampling. In the example of lottery, doing the same thing every time is a valid response as is doing something different every time. You can wait for it to come to you, or chase it.
