Should lottery winnings be taxed in America is kinda debatable. Yes pay a no tax on lottery but when the next person or group wins the next billion dollar jackpot the losers are going to kick themselves extra harder and act more envious than before because the the whole jackpot would be completely tax free to the lucky ticket holder. Not paying a no tax for lottery is sort of justice for the losers we'll know that the winners won't get a complete piece of the pie and move on.

I didn't vote, but it seems to me (I) that those who voted no meant that they don't want to pay taxes on lottery winnings, so probably all the votes there yes and no were for No, we don't want to pay taxes on lottery winnings .

After reading the question real quick I thought it implied if I wanted to pay taxes on lottery winnings until I re-read it again. The no was easily overlooked.

I thought that too for a second, as the question is asked in a somewhat roundabout way, but after reading it 10 times I can't see how it's not clear.

I understand people paying taxes, I understand wanting to pay taxes, but buying lottery tickets with taxed money, then taxing the revenue and the sales, and then being taxed on the winnings AND capital gains is quintuple dipping as far as I am concerned.

I'm starting to think that those who voted no thus wanting to pay taxes on lottery winnings may not have understood the question. I can't see anyone in their right mind wanting to pay the government more taxes than necessary unless they have money to burn.

YES, NO TAXES. NO TAXES. For me this is a no-brainer, this is not a government game. I would not mind paying taxes if our self-centered politicians did GOOD with the money. Not handling it like they are and have been i.e. their asinine pet projects, projects they have an interest in, including any and all pork , Solyndra, I am 100% opposed to paying a penny to Iran, that is insanity. As for the schools? They are in dire need of complete overhaul, starting with the teachers, absolutely NO tenure.... [ More ]
