That is still a hell of a lot more than a lot of us here....and if they are not over spending, that will out live most of them.

That would be my plan when I win....while I would take the lump sum, I would set up a trust that paid me out ideally 15 grand a month for 35 to 40 years if i win enough to do that for myself and my two siblings, with maybe half that amount for my parents over 25 years.

The 20 workers in Tennessee choose the 30 annual payments and got about $12 million (about $9 after taxes) a year.

Each of the 20 winners will get about $701,667 a year before taxes. Amazing how a $421 million jackpot can be reduced that much.

For the 3rd time in the year 2016 and the first time since Saturday July 30th, there's at least one Powerball Jackpot winning ticket that's a California Super Lotto Plus pick. The winning numbers of 17-19-21-37-44 Powerball 16 is worth $420.9 million dollars or $254.7 million dollars if they take the cash option. What do you think about my comment

It just means the pot is growing.....but not yet at a rate that requires 2hr updates during the day

Where are you getting the 374.1 mil number? Both my state site and the USMega site say 359 million. I know it goes up sometimes when there is a rush of ticket buying but the increase is usually reflected on those sites. Thanks

It has rolled to 403 million (243.8 million cash value option) for Saturday November 26th, 2016. If someone had won the jackpot, the jackpot would've been 374.1 million dollars

Well, that draw day has arrived and we are no where near a billion dollars .

C'est la vie.....

I am curious though as to what was going in at the beginning of the year that influenced the jackpot to jump the way it did. it was posted holidays and most people are holding out for that tax return to catch from all the spending they had done.

Now that the election is over I will give you my insights about pb. By the time before and after Thanksgiving comes and goes I think if no one hits and the lottery doesn't decide to let a winner happen look for around my bday 12-16 Fri maybe, Xmas time, or my sisters bday is 12-30. The powerball this past yr was mid to end Jan. I believe it was Jan.20- 26 time frame would have to look back at this site and usamega. Or I can check the search engines too including mine.

This one has grown a bit faster than the last jackpot to make it past $300 million, but we'll probably be lucky to see $400 million by the drawing after Thanksgiving. If it does keep on rolling it could certainly make it to 1.5 billion or better for the Christmas even drawing, but the chances of rolling until then are very small.

What happened to the days when any jackpot over $100 million was exciting?

I'm not down with it going that high because I'd like to get my greedy hands on tonight's $217M.

It is exciting when it goes that high, though.

Any JP game, figure you end up with about 1/3 of advertised JP amount after annuity payout and taxes. About $72M for tonight's PB would be nothing to scoff at.

When the three winning tickets were sold as in CA the people were very smart and wise not to come out but stay anonymous which is awesome. The news camera pin pointed a house that claimed where these people lived at and left unnoticed. Good for them and good for their privacy.

Hey who knows if I can pick the correct wins for this lottery and win one for my deceased dad.

I doubt winning it that often is profitablefor the big guys running it. I could be totally wrong.

A few big big jackpots with the occasional low hits would be ideal.....there have been far too few winners this year. If this trend continues in coming years, I see people totally losing interest in the $2 dollar game.

The 3 who won the billion dollar draw literally one three big draws each.....so multiple winners on the order ofor three is not to bag for such a big jackpot.

If no one keeps hitting and you want to see it again after thanksgiving. I just looked at past results. I believe the reason is because of the pathetic presidential race. Other wise the amts would be higher and the odds of this lottery stink.

My bday falls on fri Dec 16. But then it would have to be that sat. Maybe hanukkah or christmas

It's possible, but I still prefer that someone (hopefully myself, though unlikely)

wins it EVERY draw, or every other draw, at the most.

When the jp gets that doggone high, you know it's going to split up.

The key here is the annuity. Then you have to see about taxes on federal and state. City is another story. Everyone gets caught up in the excitement. Why not just take a look at your state lottery? Better odds than the big boys. After someone mentioned to me because of odds I agreed with them. Powerball and mm will always do what the lotteries do but sometimes people need to think smarter and realize the repercussions.

That's never going to happen again. Second 3 people that won the big lottery split up 335 million dollars after taxes. Govt takes 40%? Around there and thrn tax bracket.
