The Iowa player actually paid an extra 50% of the $2 ticket price to guarantee doubling any prize they won. Had the PP option applied to all prizes, the Iowa player would win $3 million for an extra $1. Four of the eleven players matching 4 + 1 paid $1 more and won an extra $100,000.

So for one extra dollar the player in Iowa won an extra million.....a million dollar dollar .

Granted the usual powerplay is 2X but still for people trying wo win multi - millions begrudging $1 makes one wonder.

It's likely both winners brought more than one ticket so the difference in what they spent was more than a dollar.

Last night no one won the PowerBall.

Two players had 5 numbers but missed the PowerBall number

One player from Iowa won $2 Million

One player from Georgia won $1Million

The only difference was the Iowa player paid $1 more for his ticket.
