Not only are prize structures being altered with more lower tier prizes, games are seemingly pulled faster. That can often favor the lottery with many higher tier prizes remaining unclaimed. This is not a new practice, but more games makes it easier to pad the take on the backs of players who don't realize the stated odds and the real odds can be quite different.

It's important to note the lottery and/or its vendor knows the location of every prize contained in an instant pack, and knows wher... [ More ]

They've messed with my state's scratchers, too. Less top prizes and and the remaining prizes are smaller. They justified this by arguing, disingenuously, that they were offering more smaller prizes but the games are pulled after the last top prize is claimed leaving a large number of unclaimed/sold smaller prizes. They also stopped the top prize second chance drawing they use to offer.

So, increase costs, less top prizes, smaller and fewer less prizes in both draw games scratchers.

Sales in Texas, and I would suspect in other states, are gravitating to scratchoff tickets. They're instant gratification. But they are not necessarily less expensive. A scratcher that has a top prize of a million dollars costs at least $10, most are $20. Yes, the odds are better, but that really is a chunk of change to spend. $20 is just about a week's budget for me. I don't play Pick 3, because I can't get too excited about winning $500.

I'm looking to try to win at least a million.... [ More ]

One of the most useful features on Lottery Post is the Worldwide Jackpot information.

It is useful because it allows us to see how slow the state jackpots are rolling in all the states and it also shows that fewer and fewer tickets are hitting the Multistates (PB MM) while it is taking longer and longer for the Multistates to roll to bigger jackpots just the same as happened with the states.

You'd have to be really blissful to continue throwing money away at this point and as more an... [ More ]
