This is ridiculous. Wasn't it not too long ago when the states said they were happy with where Mega Millions was positioned, and that Powerball changed to make it DIFFERENT from Mega Millions, seeing as all the lotteries sell both games now? Man, how quickly opinions change! Why don't they just get rid of Mega Millions all together, instead of make it too much like Powerball

The minutes of the June 1 Texas lottery commission meeting have been released.

Two major changes, other than the details of the revised Mega Millions matrix and prize schedules.

1. Texans who win jackpots can claim their wins anonymously.

2. The implementation date for the revised MM game is Oct. 31 instead of Oct 1, as was announced earlier.

Sales begin Oct. 28.

Commissioners openly bragged about how making MM harder to win will boost their profits.

Texas had to deal with a similar problem with All or Nothing.

There is no pay out for matching 5, 6 and 7 of the 12 integers drawn.

Of course, these 3 matches arrive more often than those that pay.

The lottery ignored the uproar.

Eventually, players realized that there wouldn't be a change in prize structure.

They accepted the game rules or spent their money elsewhere.

I don't believe MUSL is going to be pressured into changing the prize line-up.

Not only are the odds worse for most of the prizes, the Megaplier odds are far worse:

Given the thousands of official lottery random number generators in 46 states and the thousands of self picks, it's logical to assume that, despite the odds, a machine in a small remote store will one day issue a jackpot winner when least expected.

The machine won't know anything about the odds or the size of the jackpot. It will simply issue the appropriate number of tickets, and move on to the next customer.

The player who will be at the right place at the right time will be rich.

At least no syndicate will ever try buying all 302,575,320 possible combinations because even if it could, to break even it would have to have the only winning ticket of $7.07 Billions jackpot.

Seems the Mega Millions folks have found a new way to make money with a separate game called Just the Jackpot. JJP

A player choosing this option gets 2 chances, two plays, to win the Jackpot ONLY.

The tickets cost $3.

According to the rules, JJP ticket with winning secondary numbers other than the jackpot is a worthless piece of paper.

Cost to play.

$2 for a standard ticket with chance to win the jackpot and secondary prizes.

$1 extra for the Megaplier to win a secondary prize

I believe the CA Super Lotto is 1:40 million odds. It starts at $7 mil, goes up 1 million on each draw and it has been 21 weeks since someone has hit the jackpot. It goes for 9 months, 7 months and now 5 months plus without a jackpot. Again, it didnt use to be that way. Second prize is always around 45k and usually when there is a winner, there are multiple winners. It's a boring game. Lately, they've offered promos of buy 5 tickets and get 1 free. The fact is since PB increased the odds and the price it regularly grows faster and higher than MM. And it's been proven that the higher the jackpot, the more tickets that sell. When the jackpot is low, ticket sales are low. Look how long it takes MM to grow.
