Even if lottery chooses

1,2,3,4,5

2,3,4,5,6

.....

And many more consecutive sets repeatedly, it's possible. Though it's weird, probability is beaten by random... Once in a while these are possible. You can check p3/p4 state lotteries results and see how many times combos with consecutive digits were pulled in a row

This is same and comparable to some digits, pairs and combos skipping too much whereas some show up so often...

I asked a friend of mine who is a math professor about this. He says it's virtually impossible for 5 consecutive numbers to hit like this since the random odds are so astronomically against it happening. I then showed him that 4 people had those same winning numbers which made him even more skeptical.

There are far more random combinations than consecutive number combinations, so we never give a thought to random number combinations winning. It is more likely for either one of 30-31-32-33-34... [ More ]

Because the air and balls don't know anything. They don't know that the balls are labeled with numbers, and they don't know anything about numbers let alone that some numbers are consecutive. It's only people that think that set of numbers has any more significance than any of the other 850,667 possible outcomes.

Is it one of the possible combinations? If so, then it's valid and it's a possible outcome.

Don't get deceived by the fact that we are playing lotteries with huge odds of winning.

Every draw when winning numbers are drawn and announced, all loosing ticket holders will get a feeling that lottery is rigged.

He says the odds of all that would be once in a lifetime, maybe. I read all the posts about it being possible with random odds and that it happened in California

It's all down to probabilities possibilities. No luck involved... You just know each of those 29 winners was thinking no one else would have picked 5 consecutive numbers!

no sooner had I said they rarely get 2 winners on a draw that isn't a rollover from the night before.. we've had 2 winners each of the past 3 nights...

California's Fantasy 5 had five consecutive numbers a year or so back. Daily jackpot (usually) varies between $65k-$80k. There's usually one winner, sometimes two.... The day it had the five consecutive numbers there were TWENTY NINE winners... They each walked away with less than $2k after taxes...

Those numbers have the same chance as 1-2-3-4-5 or 10-20-30-40-50 being drawn. It's rare but still has the same chance.

It's possible because that set of numbers is one of 850,668. They even could have been DRAWN in that order, but not necessarily.
