The probability of that happening was the sae as the probability of selling enough tickets without a winner to generate a cash jackpot of $698 million with the current odds of 1 in 258 million. Based on the current cash/annuity ratio a cash value of $698 million would be advertised as $1.13 billion, so it's clearly possible that MM could reach $1 billi... [ More ]

Nobody can promise anything at all. However we may never see and I seen it on the news. The tri state mall before the turn of the century when at that time the line went from the supermarket all the way down to the opening of the parking lot. 6 hr wait for tickets to be sold to all customers.

I've finally realized how important how many tickets sold is to whether there is a winner or not. I'm always complaining about lack of CA SL winners. Even in a state with 35 million, they dont seem to be selling as many tickets as they use to, which accounts for the drop in number of winners per years.

I don't think it has a chance with the lower ticket cost. Once they go to $2 per ticket in October Mega Millions will have a chance to get there. With $1 per ticket there are too many tickets sold, meaning too many of the possible combinations are covered to get there.
