Here are formulas for Cells B1 C1 and D1 that will break down the combination into its parts

(B1) =IF(LEN(A1) 3,0,LEFT(A1,1)*1)

(C1) =IF(LEN(A1) 2,0,LEFT(RIGHT(A1,2),1)*1)

(D1) =RIGHT(A1,1)*1

All of this can be put into a table, converted into values and the retrieved by lookup, match or index functions

If you don't mind using 3 more columns in your spread sheet, this is very simple. Use the Isodd or Iseven function.

Break down the Combinations in B1,C1 and D1 The Formula is =IF(ISODD(B1), O , E ) IF(ISODD(C1), O , E ) IF(ISODD(D), O , E )

You can do the same thing with HL using the Greater than Function in a similar Equation with the 2 .

Yes target cell is a1 let's assume..

Now I guess it's time to try to learn a basic step in macros to get this to work out in my spreadsheet ..

formula

assume target is in a1

put this wherever, will display O/E H/L status of digit, repeat for other 2 digits and 999 other possible combinations

=if(mod(a1,2), O , E )

=if(a1 4, H , L )

oops sorry this uses functions,( built in macros ) disregard

Yeah that's looks to be it but i need the formula

so yeah lets try this

0 converted into EL

2 converted into EL

6 converted into EH

8 converted into EH

1 converted into OL

3 converted into OL

5 converted into OH

7 converted into OH

9 converted into OH

no macros please.. I'm sure it's simple to do for excel experts but i'm no excel expert not even a novice i learn as i go..

Need a conversion formula for one digit in one cell to accomplish the... [ More ]

needing some assistance converting some things in excel..

can anyone help me in converting lets say any combination of 2L1H to represent numbers--- eg 2L1H = 138,049 and any combination of 2H1L into numbers in a cell??

also converting ooe and eeo into numbers

OOE = 138,558

EEO = 049,669
