They likely notify your home state as well.

This statement makes a lot of sense to me because states have reciprocity agreements on many things (I'm sure non-state resident gambling winnings are among them) and they especially have them in place with their bordering states.

I don't know how someone might be caught.

I think it's not if your out of state win will be uncovered by your state of residence's taxing authority, it's more of a question of when they'll catch it. It isn't 1918. That's about the time when players very likely could have been able to say nothing and nobody would've known the difference! G5

In both Ohio and Kentucky taxpayers must fill out forms similar to the IRS 1040s and use the Federal adjusted gross income which is listed AFTER other income on the 1040. Kentucky has form 740 for full-year residence and form 740-NP for part time residence.

The Ohio state tax is 4% and the KY tax is 6% so a Northern KY player might decide to purchase jackpot game tickets in Ohio hoping to save 2% in taxes or claim anonymously.

First I am not worried about this in the least because I don't even play jackpot games. This was a question about whether if you win in one state...does the state you actually live in find out about it or how do they find out or if you can get away with not claiming it,lol.

I want to thank everyone for their input

And Nikki's right. It's good to be prepared ahead of time when it comes to taxes and such if you play jackpot games.

Because you never know, it just might be you!

If anyone plays the bigger games start thinking about this stuff now!

TheLotter offers many out of state Jackpot lottos and you if play you better start thinking about

how your going to handle those taxes before they get a handle on you.
