In my state with have these little selfserve scanners that you could check to see if your tickets are winners. dont other states have these machines.

And before I hand the clerk my winning tickets, I ALWAYS ask, Can you cash some winners? And then I tell them the amount.

The last thing you want is to have the clerk scan the tickets and then say, Oops, we don't have enough money on hand. Come back later.

Good luck cashing them later if you go back and the clerk isn't there, didn't tell anyone else, or doesn't remember. Especially if he/she is one who as Coin Toss said, considers the lottery to be a pain.

There are clerks who they themselves play lotto and are familiar with what players want, and there are clerks who consider lotto a pain and therefore don't know what players want.

I had a Lucky Day Lotto (IL Pick 5) that was a winner and I had written the draw results on the top of the ticket. A clerk told me the ticket had been defaced and was no good. I told her all she needed was to scan the bar code on the ticket. She did and then got irked because the ticket was good.

Even though I buy my tix at the same places, I ALWAYS know how much a winning ticket is worth before I ever walk in the door to cash it. So, I never walk in the door with a losing ticket. No need to.

Now occasionally I will take a scratcher that I'm not sure about to the store. But I always use the scanner on the counter to check it.

Vinny I always ask for my losers back. The FL Lottery terminal marks them Not a Winner . I receive them no push back. I ask for my non-winning tickets back so the clerk don't collect on tickets they told me were losers. I do it out of checks and balances. I did have one store tell me they had to keep the winning ticket for bookkeeping. Don't remember which store that was. I really don't wont winning tickets back because I verify the amount before I walk in door.

Sounds like you have 3 choices.

1- Take your business elsewhere.

2- Talk to the manager about his clerks, and tell him why he will be losing a customer. If they're rude to you, maybe they're rude to others. If he doesn't give a dam*, then you will know why his clerks are so rude.

3- Call the lottery office and complain.

Stop doing business with Circle K.

Twice in the last month (the only times I stopped there) clerks at Circle K have torn up my losing tickets after checking them even after I told them I wanted to replay the ticket. Weeks of playing the same numbers gone! I didn't have a play slip and the ticket was illegible after the 'carnage'. They don't listen!

On the second occasion at a different store she refused to return my winning ticket after scanning it. She claimed it was 'some lottery rule'. Not the case. I don't have any proble... [ More ]
