If that's what your doctor is basing your life expectancy on you need a new doctor. 70 may have been a pretty good estimate when you were born but it would have been based on the possibility that something would have killed you before you hit 61. Since that didn't happen your life expectancy is now significantly more than 70, assuming you don't have serious risk factors.

Good post, I agree with everything stated here. Take the lump sum cash and be done with it. Eight million to pay cash for home, cars, furniture and possible travel. Then take care of family, friends and charities and live the rest of your life. Good Luck Players

I just had an annual physical and my Doctor quoted the Bible on the length of a man's life. It is Three Score and ten. 70 years. A score = 20 years. 3 X 20 =60 plus 10 = 70 I am 61 so I only have nine years left. I have discussed this with LP Members and come to the conclusion... Cash Lump Sum is for me.

I rarely say the two letter word, NO . I will have to learn to use it again. I seem to remember when babies are two years old they say NO a lot. Their Mom usually breaks that habit.

Say it ain't so................. I agree with you on the being set part...... Take the lump sum and be done with it. Don't chance on the unknown in the future. Look at all the winners of the PB MM over the last decade of major jackpots. You KNOW many have consulted with the correct investment representatives and about 98% took the cash.

Running out of money is a problem for both statuses. However, when you are rich and give away your wealth strangers may not believe you when you say, I gave all my money away They say that you are lying to them.

ressuccess, Have you found it difficult to have no identity related to your employment? Did you ever work after getting your degree? Retired people lose their identity and find daily life to be a struggle without that name i.e. Doctor, Lawyer, Salesman, Carpenter.

A lottery winner will go through that process if he/she quits a job. A winner could spend some of their money on psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors in general.

Thank You RJOh for your good luck wishes. I figured that the Total for the 30 years will be equal to $110,250,000 compared to only $66,150,000.00 for the Lump Sum. I use the fact that I am living in California and do not have to pay any taxes to the State.

I believe that I can survive on the first year's check worth $1,659,315.90 I will learn from any mistakes and try not to repeat them in the succeeding years.

My calculations for the Total MM payout for the Annuity = $110,250,000.00

The First year check here in CA = $1,659,420.90

My thoughts about all those winners who chose the Lump Sum and lost it all brings me to the Holy Bible. Here is a quote, He who hastens to be rich shall not go unpunished.

I believe that when I win this MM and take the first year check I will be set.
