I consider it my hobby. I have a lot of fun playing, collecting tickets from different states, and researching different aspects of winning. Some of the things I have researched over the years, like estate planning and investment stuff, has been helpful in real life.

I also have an unshakable belief that I will win a largish amount of money. Maybe not $100,000,000 but maybe enough to pay back what I have spent over the years.

My approach is simple..I play the pick 3 , found a number , 721 , that hasn t hit straight in 20 years so I m gonna put 20 bucks a day on it so I can lose over 7k a year for about the next 10 years...but when that sucker comes out I ll say I told you it was due and then I ll go blow it on strippers and roulette

Update on my approach, Bayesian probability, didn't even know I was doing it .

Tried putting a Wiki link in but the AI told me off... Google it yourself.

Hope that link is allowed, it most accurately describes my method and evaluation of all probabilistic outcomes. However I have a head's up in that I know the current position of my probability attached to each variable. This is then tied back to an intensity.

obsession is more with numbers and how they flow than actual lottery (math nut) I can go months without playing and then spend months playing more than I should sometimes (I've gotten better over the years) ......like the other poster I usually slow way down around oct to dec and pick back up in jan

I will play a little here and there for the rest of this month and then a lot less in October through December of this year. Probably only when the jackpots reach $500 million or more this year and then back to every drawing in the new year.-weshar75

Strategically and systematically using excel as my number cruncher.

But at the same time counter intuitively, never follow the crowd consensus on what strategy to use, always develop my own from first principles and following the trails of bread crumbs that I find within my strategy.
