San, what are patterns? patterns are something you see that continues. but how does it continue? it most likely will not continue the exact same way, but style. if your answer is 475 and you see 975. well what do you think the next time when your answer is 224? 724? Well then you see nothing. So you see again the next, 435. 935? No nothing. Then just one more time because 475:975 was something after all. And you see 476. Well what now. 976. No, the answer was 291. Hmm pattern or something else

Okay, your vision is grounded, because

look at an example

05 15 25 36 48 = last draw

06 17 26 38 50 = next

note that in the next, the last draw is the base

looking at the position are all larger, recurring numbers

or vertical from each position we can establish the deltas

1,2,1,2,2

then we have three conditions for the last draw (ascending order)

greater smaller and equal

the same is when you repeat the position

I believe there are biases based on the way the balls are set before the drop. All balls don't have the same percentage to come up imo. And I also think that the first ball that comes up in a lottery can lead to some possible patterns in the 2nd ball. Not sure if that continues to the 3rd, 4th and 5th ball. Still looking over the data. Still a lot to do.

There is no name for the program. It's a standalone program I wrote for myself. It's a work in progress as I add features to help me track various aspects of Pick 3.

You could probably do something similar in Open Office or Excel. You will however need to be knowledgeable with spreadsheet formats and formulas.

I agree with grwurston. Color coding is very important for me to ID certain trends/patterns.

Say for example I want to see where a trend of back-to-back, even-odd-odd digits are drawn. The image below demonstrates how easily I can spot that trend.

I could also do this without the coloring, but it would take more time, and my eyes would not be happy with me.
