Those identical QPs were printed by an Arizona Lottery terminal in 2012 and that lottery acknowledge they were real.

Engineers are continuing to perform a battery of tests and analyses to 1) Determine the root cause of the event with the terminal or system; 2) Determine if there have been past events of a similar nature in Arizona; 3) Certify that no current or future risks are posed to the Arizona Lottery players.

On top of all that, the barcodes appear to be identical. Each ticket should have it's own unique barcode.

It's not what competent PhotoShopping skills look like.

The pink side strips are patchy and the lower dotted line on the left ticket doesn't go all the way through the pink as the other three dotted lines do. There are color mismatches as well.

It's my understanding he accessed the software and added a program to create the winning combination. Short of weighting the balls on mechanical draws...it's rare to rig those.

Those of us who diligently create and keep spreadsheets know this to be true, we see it in our columns and rows of figures, and what we intuit from the results, what comes over us as a feeling, remains hard to accept, because we don't want to accept it. We want the lotteries to be run fair and square and morally right, but in economic terms, lotteries cannot afford to be run without some manipulation.

Finding one instance where the result clearly isn't random has little meaning to what happens the vast majority of the time. It's also completely irrelevant to any difference between a bunch of independent terminals versus a single central terminal. I just answered your question about why there aren't more multiple winners, and it's because math .

In Ohio QPs were called auto-lotto tickets. I had a Tandy Color Computer that I programmed to randomly generate six numbers from the size of the matrix, but didn't program the picks to be in numerical order. The results showed repeats but in a different order after every 20 picks so they didn't look randomly generated to me. Had no luck with the auto-lotto tickets so I decided to write each number on a piece of paper, mix them up and draw six numbers for the first line, the next six for the seco... [ More ]

If these terminals are so independent, how do they send the numbers they pick or scan to the central office computer? Pony Express! No.

They are remote terminals networked to the central lottery office's computer and are not as 'independent' as we would like to think they are.

It doesn't matter whether every terminal is its own independent RNG, if they all use a central state computer as the RNG, or if there was just a single RNG serving every lottery in the country. Random is random, so it doesn't matter where the random results are generated. When there are enough random events random results do pretty much what probability says we should expect.

There are pick 4 drawings in almost every state every day. If you comb through the thousands and thousands of drawings, eventually you are going to find one like this.

In fact, with enough drawing history, if you NEVER found an anomaly like that, then it would indicate a problem, as if the lottery is purposely choosing numbers that were never drawn before. But even then, eventually they will run out of possible pick 4 drawings.

Then we had, 3439 1/30/19 eve.

No RNG. Ball drawings.

The MSL must have made some nice coin there. The only people happy about that would be anyone that did a 4 day advance play on 1/26. IF anyone even did...

Not really sure what's going on with with software-based (RNG) systems but, they're truly flawed and certainly penetrable. Have a look at what just happened on Florida's most recent Pick 4 draws...back to back:

As always, I'd just love to see the pre-test results between these draws.

If each terminal RNG was independent of thousands of terminals throughout the country, we probably wouldn't see any one terminal printing 10 identical sets of numbers like in Arizona, but some should have one or more lines matching. The number of five number matches are usually really close to the game's probability, but should be based on thousands of individual terminal probabilities.

That is something will never know because lotteries probably don't monitor or publish those statistics.... [ More ]

I occasionally notice things like that between very separate games, such as the same three numbers being drawn within a few weeks of each other across some of the smaller state draw games where I live and one or two of the larger multi-state draw games. However, because the games are so separated (something like my state's computerized pick 5 game and then a multi-state behemoth like powerball), it is extremely unlikely to be the result of a shared and faulty RNG program across all of these game... With 100 million quickpick tickets sold in a game with a 1 in 300 million chance of winning, the probability of there being no jackpot winners is 71%.

With 100 million self-pick tickets with no duplicates (hard to arrange for that, but let's just pretend), the probability of there being no jackpot winners is 67%.

The reason for the difference between 67% and 71% is that quick pick tickets can generate duplicates. Self-picks can as well, so with 70% of tickets sold being quick picks and the... [ More ]

We now know it's possible (Eddie Tipton) to rig future RNG drawings, but maybe more attention should be paid to the quick pick/terminal pick/auto lotto etc. Years ago I read where each terminal was independent, but if that's true why aren't there more multiple jackpot winners or at least more 5 + 0 matches especially when ticket sales near 100 million?

Not saying there is a conspiracy, just wondering.

As much as we would like to agree with you, we can't.

Powerball and Mega Millions are ball drawn lotteries.

Powerball however, does employ a computer picked multiplier.

Is there the possibility these can be rigged, yes.

Unfortunately, we need proof, not accusations.

The Multi State Lottery Association runs computer program systems that has to be drawing numbers that are not random numbers in games as the Powerball, Megamillions because more than frequent of almost the same number patterns are appearing more often, example, the drawing for the Powerball date of 1/26/2019 numbers are 8-12-20-21-32-10, the numbers for Megamillions on 1/25/2019 was 8-16-30-38-61-10, plus in Kentucky the game Lucky for life numbers that was drawn on 1/28/2019 was 21-29-30-32-45
