For some reason l picture you as a Bob Lee Swagger type: Living off the Grid, growing shooting your own food kinda guy. Up North we have so many stores selling lottery tickets etc, one's head could be on a swivel still nail a store within walking distance.

On another note: Ohio, with a population of under 12 million, pulled down the MM jackpot last night. What l am saying is : There is always hope it h... [ More ]

If my normal c-store stopped selling lottery tix it wouldn't be hard to find another place. There's 6 stores within a 2 mile radius of my house that sell them, and one of them right down the street from home.

Same thing happened at a gas/convenient store near me, but it turned out the lottery closed the terminal and scratch-off sales because the owner didn't pay them. The store now has a new owner and selling lottery tickets again. The stores here sell mostly scratch-offs, pick-3, and Keno if they have a monitor. Sell lots of MM and PB too when the jackpots are high.

It's funny you mention the donut shop. One thing that surprised my out-of-state guests was how many hole-in-the-wall donut shops there are around CA that sell lottery tickets. And not big national chains like Dunkin or Krispy Kreme, just run-down looking joints. My usual spot to buy them is also one of these places. I asked the owner how much of a difference selling lotto made in his business and he said without the lottery nobody would ever come in to buy the pastry. (Not surprising, it's not v... [ More ]

My local shop decided to stop selling tickets. Walked in there to buy a couple of MM on Saturday the gal behind the counter said it was their last day selling tickets. That's when I noticed all the scratchers were gone.

That's the second local place in 5 or 6 years. First place was a liquor store that closed about 6 months after they stopped selling tickets reopened as a sushi joint. Latest place is going to carry on in the donut business. Owner claims they weren't making any money selling lo... [ More ]
