One thing I have noticed since the CV hit is this:

Cash in bank (take the cash option, pay all taxes) is usually around 35-40% of the advertised jackpot (assuming a State with no tax on lottery prize)

Right now it's closer to 50% or greater.

Great idea. You can wait until everything rebounds and then buys a bunch of stocks when they cost 5 or 35% more than they do now.

The criminality in this country is beyond the pale.

That story sounds like an urban legend. If not I'd expect a state AG to go after them for fraud. That said, there are all sorts of ways for companies to legally rip you off. My wife's biennial $9 LLC fee is coming due soon and she just got the first letter hoping... [ More ]

Let's say you win a big jackpot lump sum. With the craziness of the virus and the market crashing. I think I'd personally keep it all liquid, CDs, gold, silver and off shore accounts until this thing blows over. Im sure in a few months everything will come back stronger than ever.
