Thank you sir!

There is something called an entropy pool within the RNG, maybe that's another way of saying noise source, not sure. Nonetheless, I've read that if the entropy pool does not update quick enough, it can cause problems. Problems meaning that it doesn't give as good random numbers as it could, but it still wouldn't make it predictable.

I wish I had more to add to the conversation.

At least at one point in the past Tennessee's RNG definitely picked 3 and/or 4 individual digits. Maybe they make that information available somewhere, but even if they wanted to keep it a secret we know that's how they were doing it because for a short period the RNG was configured incorrectly and would not output a digit that had already been used for a specific drawing. Whatever digit came up as the first one couldn't come up as the 2nd one, and neither of the first two could come up in the 3... [ More ]

Lots of states have morning, midday, and evening pick3 and pick4 drawings. I'm trying to understand how the numbers are generated. I know the lottery uses a RNG, but I don't know how the lottery uses a RNG.

For instance, when pick3 is drawn, does the RNG draw B1 number, then B2 number, and finally B3 number or does it just spit out a SINGLE number between 0 and 999? When they took the ball machines away, did they implement the RNG in such a way that it simulates the ball machine by giving th... [ More ]
