You're lumping MM and PB with ALL lottery sales.

Actually, sales from the big 2 are down. Sales for scratchoff tickets are increasing every year and account for the bulk of lottery sales. Scratchoffs are the result of today's instant gratification.

Someone is screwing with us, lotteries are reporting record ticket sales both PB MM dropped the jackpot amounts blamed it on falling sales owing to CV19. I'm calling bull, News section says sales are up from 2019.

On September 25, 2019, 9,677,193 PB tickets were sold for a starting a $40 million jackpot and on September 19, 2020, 10,379,974 were sold for the $20 million starting jackpot. Somebody reports the ticket sales and PB is averaging about 10 million tickets and MM is averaging about 9 million per drawing. Slightly more than 34% of ticket sales goes into the jackpot so if 10 million tickets are sold for the starting $20 million jackpot, $6.8 million goes into the cash value jackpot. At 5% growth rate, that annuity would only last less than 14 years.

No one would EVER win such outrageous odds of a Game..!!.. not to mention the corruption it'd cause., as the jackpot would reach well into the Billions.!! There just need to be some overseeing of the corruption already plaguing State Lotteries..!!

Top populated cities hail frequent winnners because all or most of the combinations to the Game get used up there alot quicker than in a less populated city...

I agree it's not building up very big because it's way too easy to win in places like New York and Wisconsin.

Certain states need their own MUSL game that is insanely hard to win. By that I mean odds of 1 in 50 trillion instead of 1 in 300 million.

More people are as frustrated like you are , and are not playing it.. so, in an effort to keep serious players from totally abandoning the Game, they release a few low Jackpots as advertisement..if not , you'd be waiting forever to play a 600 Million - 1.5 Billion Jackpot at the current turnover rate...

From what I've read, most jackpot winners take the cash value making the advertised jackpot sort of irrelevant. And considering the odds of against winning a jackpot, a $300 million annuity isn't enough.

This might be moved but thought it'd be ok to post here since other posts about this subject stayed in main discussion. My apologies if in wrong forum.

Anyway, in the past I commented it didn't bother me having jackpots start at 20 mil instead of 40 with an understanding that they are trying to protect the game, but I have since been frustrated by this...
