As we see in the chart below, 2020 is the first time in this current matrix, that two PB's (12, 15) have yet to be drawn in a single year.

All very true! It's also done by state lotteries with their ball and drum equipment in many of their state games. And even though its done on a regular basis, one number always comes to the fore and is the top hitter. WHY IS THAT???

I have yet to see anyone with a good explanation to that question. Possibly it's because a ball and drum machine is manufactured by man, and that might have something to do with it.

In my opinion probability experts live in a theoretical world, and that's fine... [ More ]

Good question! I've been asking myself the same thing, but haven't been able to come up with an answer that I like!!

Since October of 2015, #18 is ranked second with 29 hits, but when you factor in 13 of those hits came in 2020, then you can see that it hasn't been all that strong since 10/7/2015 when the matrix last changed.

The top ranked PowerBall since October of 2015 is #24 with 30 hits. I like #24 because in 2016, and 2017, it was the third ranked PowerBall, in 2018 it was the top h... [ More ]

Interesting observation. I know that Powerball rotates among 2 or 3 sets of balls for both the white and red, and also that the ball sets are replaced every few years. There's also the thorny issue of test draw data, which they don't publish, so who knows how often it has come up in all draws.

That is definitely out of the 'Norm . The 18 Red Ball popped 5 times in 2019 2018 so it came from near the bottom.

I always like to compare the hot numbers to the cold numbers. If I am seeing right,

12 15 came out ZERO times in 2020 and 4 times (12) 2 times (15) in 2019

So, hard to tell if the 12 15 will be the HOT numbers in 2021? How strange would it be if the 18 continued to pop in 2021

While everything you said in your post above is true, it most likely confused others that read it when you wrote all 69 objects .

Just for the sake of clarity, my post was talking about the red balls, not the white balls. G5

What is hot becomes cold. What is cold becomes hot.

This is true for all truly random drawings. Pseudo random numbers are human in, human out.

The time is takes going back and forth between hot and cold, and vice verse, is random. That statement is straight from the desk of Capt. Obvious.

For Powerball, the expected number of one-element samplings needed to collect all 69 objects is 332.48, rounded to 332.

Annual totals do not meet the sample criteria.

The pandemic is just one thing unusual that happened in 2020. It's been one heck of a year chock full of surprises.

Last night was the 13th time the #18 Red Power Ball was drawn in 2020. Think that's not a lot of times in one year for a PowerBall to be drawn?

Consider this, #24 has been drawn 8 times this year and is the second most drawn PowerBall.

In 2019, the most drawn PowerBall was #21 which was drawn 8 times.

In 2018, the most drawn PowerBall was #24 which was drawn 8 times.... [ More ]
